The Quality Assurance Team continually seek to enhance our quality assurance systems and processes in the ever-evolving field of quality assurance and student experience. We are committed to promoting and enhancing practices that directly and positively influence the students’ academic experience. In seeking to achieve our objectives, we work in close partnership with key stakeholders across the university including Faculty academic and professional staff as well as professional services staff and students. The Quality Assurance Officer role will support the effective operation of quality assurance mechanisms including validation and review activities, external examiner systems and progression and award boards. We are recruiting for two of these roles; one is a permanent role, the other is a 12 month fixed-term contract.

Key areas of responsibility include:

- Supporting the operation of the university’s Progression and Award Boards (PABs), including working with Faculty staff in advance of the PABs to ensure that correct students are attached to cohorts, pre-coding the PABs, providing advice and guidance to the PABs in relation to the university’s regulations and resolving post-PAB queries;
- Maintaining oversight of External Examiner vacancies within your area of responsibility, including chasing outstanding vacancies, receiving, reviewing nominations, and supporting induction;
- Coordinating and servicing Programme Validation panels;
- Maintaining oversight of Annual Programme Review reports within your area of responsibility;
- Providing input into quality assurance information and guidance including documents available on the Quality Assurance web pages;
- Supporting the development and enhancement of quality assurance systems and processes.
- Previous experience of quality assurance in a higher education setting;
- Knowledge of quality management principles, tools, and methodologies;
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements for higher education institutions;
- Experience in developing and implementing quality policies, procedures and processes;
- Experience of working within the constraints of academic regulations, understanding and interpreting regulations and making decisions in accordance with the regulations;
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with stakeholders at various levels;
- The ability to organise your own work, prioritising workload with mínimal supervision in order to meet key deadlines;
- A high degree of accuracy and the ability to pay close attention to detail;
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft packages such as Word, Excel, Teams, OneDrive and PowerPoint.
