Lead the Health & Safety team and demonstrate good communication skills. Use initiative and responsibility in the decision-making process in relation to all aspects of Health & Safety service delivery. Provide guidance and support to the Health & Safety team. Lead by example and motivate staff to achieve their personal and the departments aim and objectives.

To take a lead role with managers, clinicians and all Trust staff to create a positive Health & Safety culture. To plan and deliver high quality Health & Safety and manual handling Trust wide. To provide direction to the service and to formulate proposals and action plans for the future development of the service. Take responsibility for the line management of all staff.

To ensure all work is planned, delivered within agreed timescales and with available resources. To have responsibility for the recruitment, discipline, absence management, appraisal and career development of all staff. Take responsibility for overseeing the operational management of the Health & Safety budget. To ensure the effective use of resources for the delivery of Trust and external Health & Safety services.

To produce an annual H&S action plan including performance indicators for the health and safety team based on audits and performance during the previous twelve months and covering the whole range of health and safety/fire safety issues required by law. To have overall management responsibility for the Health and Safety Management System for the Trust that includes all the health and safety policies, procedures and guidelines. To ensure all Health & Safety policies are reviewed and to lead in the development of policys using a coordinated approach throughout the Trust. To have an overview of all Health & Safety /Manual handling policies and procedures before implementation across the Trust following ratification through Trust Health and Safety Committee, and the Board.
