We are looking to appoint Pharmacy Production Team Leaders to join our growing team to train and develop our current Trainee Pharmacy Production Assistants and Pharmacy Production Assistants.

Pharmacy Production Unit currently holds a Manufacturing License (MS) from the MHRA. This allows the unit to manufacture batches of aseptically prepared products for use both inside and outside the trust. Current output for this process is 57,000 items per annum with ongoing work to increase this to over 100,000 units per annum.

The Pharmacy Production Unit also supplies licensed overlabelled products across all Trust sites to improve patient flow and improve discharge processes. Demand for this process is in excess of 200,000 units per annum.

The post will be based at Wansbeck General Hospital Pharmacy Production Unit, but the post holder may be required to work at other sites within the Trust.

Weekend cover will be based at North Tyneside General Hospital to support the 7-day clinical service to the Specialist Emergency Care Hospital.

To play a part in our excellent pharmacy technical service. Undertaking activities within the Pharmacy Production Unit ensuring an efficient, effective and safe service of chemotherapy and ready-to-administer antibiotics are provided to our patients.

Supervise on the training of all new and existing pharmacy dispensing assistants, ensuring that all training records meet regulatory standards.

To provide Human Resource management to a group of identified staff e.g. Pharmacy Dispensing Assistants.

We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, covering one of the largest geographical areas of any NHS trust in the country. We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, in addition to our state-of-the-art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England. We also care for people in their homes and provide services from facilities in local communities such as health centres. To reduce the risk of medication error by ensuring any relevant policies/procedures are followed and safe systems are in place for the dispensing/manufacturing, supply and storage of medicines.

To provide Human Resource management to a group of identified staff e.g. Pharmacy Dispensing Assistants.

To support the investigation of complaints and incidents relating to area of responsibility e.g. ensure suitable responses are provided and that remedial action is undertaken.

Supervise on the training of all new and existing pharmacy dispensing assistants, ensuring that all training records meet regulatory standards.

To supervise and teach when appropriate less experienced staff e.g. pharmacy dispensing assistants, rotational pharmacy technicians, student pharmacy technicians, work experience students and occasionally pre-registration pharmacists.

To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.
