To support the delivery of medical device / medical gas training programmes across the organisation.

To be involved in the implementation of resuscitation policies, procedures and mandatory training trust wide.

To provide support, advice, and training on reducing manual handling risk to staff employed Trust wide in line with the relevant policies. To promote best practice in manual handling and support the implementation of a safe environment for staff and patients.

To support audit collection for resuscitation, medical devices, medical gases and moving and handling.

To support the expanding demands of statutory and induction training to meet the organisational needs.

To support and work collaboratively with Clinical Educators and Medical Device Link Practitioners who are based within Service Lines, ensuring clinical areas are meeting and demonstrating their competence in relation to the Care Quality Commission (CQC) outcomes and NHSLA Standards.

Collate a range of data and information relating to medical devices /medical gases training & competence, supporting clinical audit and governance.

To participate in monitoring practice of staff and conducting audits on handling practices and safe systems of work as appropriate. Monitor and review of risk assessments, patient documentation, postural observations and equipment inventories.

Support the delivery of a training strategy for medical devices /gases

Undertake on site visits to advise on emergency equipment, systems and processes.

Work in conjunction with the acute care team and emergency teams as required to safely transfer critically unwell patients to relevant clinical areas e.g. critical care.

Assist with the maintenance and safe use of resuscitation equipment within the organisation in collaboration with the matron for Resuscitation & Clinical Education, Senior Resuscitation Officer and MEMS.

Deliver manual handling programmes in line with the Manual Handling training plan and according to Trust requirements.

Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS at Risk staff throughout Devon who is able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.

Deliver train the trainer training and conduct competence assessments of the key workers, providing verbal and written feedback in line with curriculum and ongoing support and supervision.

Demonstrate and facilitate the learning of appropriate manual handling principles and skills to groups of multidisciplinary health care staff within a training environment and as appropriate in a work environment. Utilising and encouraging problem solving approaches to create a learning environment in which staff can achieve their learning objectives.

Document training provided and complete and maintain accurate training records.

Inform managers of any concerns with the ability of trainees to demonstrate safe practice so that the appropriate action may be taken.

Provide support and supervision for the manual handling assistant trainer taking accountability in the training environment and care settings.

Advise and support managers and key workers on the identification and reduction of risk factors when completing risk assessments in relation to manual handling.

Support the manual handling team in responding to daily calls and bleeps.

Maintain own professional practice to continue to provide expert/specialist advice in the field of practice to give assurance to the Trust.
