Chemring Energetics UK (CEUK) is a global business providing a range of equipment based on energetic materials for defence, civil defence and key commercial customers.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within CEUK for a Production Operator within our Propellants department.

**Propellants department**:
Responding to the Team Leaders, the Production Operator will be involved in the operation of various machines used in the manufacture of propellant, e.g. mixers, extruders, rolling machines.

**Key Accountabilities & Duties**:

- Carry out all activities in full compliance with H&SE legislation, within company policy and procedure.
- Responsible for reporting any unsafe acts or unsafe conditions observed (using the Near Miss System) in accordance with responsibilities under the Health and Safety at work Act.
- To ensure appropriate PPE requirements are met when working in each area.
- Work in accordance with all site rules and regulations.
- To ensure that all tasks are undertaken in full compliance with the operating instruction and any associated manufacturing documents
- To demonstrate competence in all tasks undertaken through successful completion of the associated training and competence assessment including an understanding of the hazards, risks and controls associated with the task being undertaken
- To report any unsafe acts or unsafe conditions observed to line management
- To maintain the appropriate levels of housekeeping for your work area.
- Successful undertaking, completion and sign off of the CEUK Competence Assurance Training for Propellants
- Carry out all activities in full compliance with H&SE legislation, within company policy and procedure.

**Qualifications/ Experience**:

- Experience in a production environment
- Basic numeracy skills
- Basic literacy skills
- Ability to lift and carry weights up to 20kg (Propellants only)
- Experience with use of engineering equipment and HMI control panels (Desirable for Chemicals only)
- Driving licence (Desirable for both departments)
- Must have personal commitment to Safety, Quality and Environmental standards.
- Strong bias for action to identify potential problems and co-ordinate their resolution before they become an issue.
- Continually seeks to identify new ideas and implement new opportunities, which deliver business benefit.
- The ability to lead, build and develop effective relationships and use these to improve performance.
- Strong IT, communication and team working skills
- Knowledge of the principles of company policy and operating procedures in order to ensure site and company compliance.
- Excellent communication skills.

**Salary and Benefits**:

Production Operator - £24,848 - £26,286 per annum (upon completion of 12 months training). This role has a current shift pattern of early/back shift for which there is a shift allowance payment of 15% of base salary.
