The words ‘head chef’ and ‘social life’ don’t often go together. Well, not this time. With this job you will not work evenings, you will only work 5 days a week, and you will not be under heavy pressure and stress.

Join Gateway Recovery Centre in Widnes, where you will lead the team in preparing and cooking lunch and dinner for staff and service users. You will also provide guidance and training to your peers.

It’s a calm and pleasurable working environment, where you’ll be able to manage your workload and enjoy creating meals. There’s a great social aspect to this role where you can interact with people outside the kitchen regularly.

**Your responsibilities will include**:

- To manage the kitchen team, providing support and training for chefs and catering assistants
- Maintaining and monitoring strict budgets in conjunction with staff
- Implementing and maintaining standards of food for all patients, staff and visitors including cultural and life choice meals.
- To represent the catering department at internal and external meetings and visiting patients and staff on the ward
- Implement and monitor all legislative requirements required by the business including food hygiene, CQC and all other legislative needs
- Promotion and management of Security, health and safety and human resource requirements liaising with the HSM

**To be successful in this role, you'll need**:

- GCSE or equivalent English
- City & Guilds 706/1 and 2 (or equivalent) Basic Food Preparation Cooking
- Basic Food Hygiene (Intermediate desirable)
- Supervising qualification or working towards
- Experience preparing and producing quality food to a high standard
- Knowledge of menu planning and costing
- Some supervising experience
