QUALIFICATIONS AND RELEVANT TRAINING

ESSENTIAL
- Degree or equivalent qualification

DESIRABLE
- Professional qualification in the housing / homelesness / housing support sector

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL
- Experience of working in a public or large organisation
- Experience working to tight schedules
- Experience of working either in social housing, or in a similar sector
- Experience of working on your own, planning and monitoring the progress of your own workload and meeting deadlines
- Experience of establishing and building working relationships with people from other departments, agencies and sectors
- Experience of coordinating assessments, collating, capturing and analyzing data and information
- Experience in presenting information to a variety of different audiences in different methods

DESIRABLE
- Experience of collaborating with a range of stakeholders, e.g. officials, elected members, housing associations, voluntary organisations, the public
- Experience working with people in housing need
- Experience of working with, and understanding of the housing and rehousing needs including older people and vulnerable people
- Ability to work primarily unsupervised

SKILLS AND SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE

ESSENTIAL
- Ability to effectively organize, plan and prioritize tasks and workloads
- An understanding of the social housing and homlelessness sectors along with the associated support services
- Good oral and written skills
- Able to plan and review workload, meet deadlines and performance standards
- Competent in the use of information technology systems, including packages such as Microsoft etc
- Problem solving skills

DESIRABLE
- Operational knowledge in the following areas:

- Homelessness legislation - Housing (Wales) Act 2014
- Housing Allocations legislation - Part 6 of the Housing Act 1996
- Issues and challenges facing vulnerable people
- State Benefit entitlement
- Specialist knowledge of housing advice or work relating to homeless

LISTENING AND SPEAKING
Listen and Talk - Advanced Level
Can follow a conversation or discussion through the medium of Welsh and English at a professional level and discuss general everyday topics in the field in order to present information and express their views. Able to provide a pre-prepared presentation and respond to any comments and questions on it through the medium of Welsh and English.

READING AND UNDERSTANDING
Reading Comprehension - Advanced Level
Can understand standard, formal and informal written Welsh and English. Be able to gather information from various sources such as letters, reports, articles, through the medium of Welsh and English in order to perform the job.

WRITING
Writing - Advanced Level
Present written information with confidence in the form of a letter, a more detailed and technical report and respond to written requests communicating information, ideas and opinions through the medium of Welsh and English. (Help can be found to check the language)

Purpose of the Post.
1. Co-ordinate relevant work in all aspects of the work associated with carrying out housing needs assessments of different occupants as part of the projects associated with the Housing Action Plan and the Council's strategic work.
2. Oversee the production of reports and consultation documents relating to the Council's strategic housing plans and assist in the response to offi
