**Job Description**:
Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to make a difference? Join our team and contribute to the future of fusion energy. As **_Environmental Waste Operational Team Supervisor_**, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that your behaviour promotes the safety, health and welfare of yourself and your colleagues and supervise controlled and hazardous waste movements on site, ensuring appropriate standards are maintained through the monitoring of work within assigned facilities and through carrying out pre work start-up and post work shut-down inspections of plant and facilities.
- Actively promote UKAEA’s values, championing a culture of equality, diversity, and inclusion.
- Ensure the Contracted Operators understand their assigned tasks through effective communication, carrying out pre-work briefing sessions and training in local work procedures.
- Produce written Safe Systems of Work (Risk Assessments, Working Instructions, method Statements etc.) in accordance with current UK legislation and UKAEA policies. Ensure that this is effectively communicated to Contracted Operators prior to work commencing.
- Support the Contracted Operatives provider (eg. Altrad Babcock) in the recruitment and induction of Operatives.
- Responsible for the co-ordination and consigning of wastes via third-party companies, as directed by the Operational Team Manager.
- Responsible for co-ordinating the daytime emergency spill response.
- Support the Operational Team Manager in carrying out wider Waste Services Group initiatives and activities across site.
- Work in accordance with UKAEA policy and undertake any other reasonable tasks or duties requested by your manager.

Overtime, mainly at weekends, may be offered at time when and where needed but is not compulsory.

**Qualifications**:
**Essential skills, experience and competence required**
- Demonstratable experience of supervising teams of operatives
- A good understanding of safety management principles
- Demonstrably competent in the Microsoft Office Suite, in particular Word, and Excel
- Registered Beryllium worker and Non-Classified Radiation worker (Scheme of Work)
- Experience of spill response.

**Desirable skills, experience and competence**
- An IOSH Managing Safely certificate or an equivalent recognised occupational Health and Safety qualification.
- Experience of working in a highly regulated industry.
