As **Waste Innovation Group Leader**, you will play a pivotal role in the Hydrogen 3 Advanced Technologies Division (H3AT). The division leads the delivery of high-impact research and development programmes, H3AT is also responsible for designing, delivering, and operating cutting-edge tritium life cycle facilities. The Waste Innovation Group actively seeks to minimise waste production and manage waste effectively from fusion activities. This covers a diverse range of tasks from desk-based analysts to operating pilot plant facilities that support fusion operations. The Group Leader provides leadership and strategy, as well as research and development, and project sponsorship leading to proficiency in waste and the impact of innovations on fusion fuel cycle. This will involve engaging with internal stakeholders, academia, and national and international industries.

**Responsibilities**
- Lead the growth of a waste innovation team and increase the awareness of stakeholders to the interconnectivity of development areas.
- Effective & timely line management of staff across two sites - ensuring suitably qualified & experienced staff are in place to meet both current & future organisational needs.
- Setting resource allocation and recruitment requirements, knowledge transfer, welfare, setting measurable objectives and performance management, absence management, professional development, and coaching.
- Develop & implement effective strategy to grow a team.
- Provide support to and/or deliver high-value projects by providing technical and programmatical leadership.
- Represent and promote H3AT’s innovative offerings and technical specialism both internally and externally at high profile events.

**Please note**: You will be expected to be able to work in radioactive areas for this role.

**Qualifications**

**Essential Requirements**
- Experience line managing, building and leading large technical teams and coaching individuals.
- Prior radiological or contaminated waste experience.
- Able to work on major projects as a technical lead.
- Demonstrable experience of strategy and planning.
