Deliver evidence based, low-intensity cognitive behavioural therapy (LiCBT) on a 1:1 and group basis, depending on service need, using a range of methods in keeping with step 2 provision and to which you have appropriate training. Support the Mental Health Inreach Team to provide an accessible, efficient service to meet the recovery goals of patients. Support the Mental Health Inreach Team in achieving it targets as set out by the Trust. The post holder will cater to the individual needs of patients within the remit of the service.

This includes working with people with different ages, cultural, and educational backgrounds, along with those convicted of various crimes and who are serving a custodial sentence. This will require the use of adaption to practice and may require the use of interpreters when necessary. The post holder must be committed to equal opportunities and adhering to the Accessibility Information Standard. Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the service and develop step 2 treatment plans.

Assess and support people with a common mental health problem in the self-management of their recovery. Undertake patient-centred assessments which identify areas where the person wishes to see change and or recovery and using supervision, make an accurate assessment of risk to self and others. Make decisions on the suitability of step 2 interventions; adhering to the departments protocols; step up patients requiring more than a step 2 intervention to a higher intensity of psychological therapy within the service or; signpost on to other healthcare services; or direct back to the prison GP service. This work will be mainly face to face and prison-based wings. Educate and involve family members, carers and others including operational staff in treatment as necessary with consent. Adhere to an agreed plan of clinical activity relating to the overall number of client contacts offered, and clinical sessions carried out per week in order to minimise waiting times and ensure treatment delivery remains accessible and convenient. Attend multi-disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or clients in treatment, where appropriate.

Work as part of multi-disciplinary team. Ensuring high quality care is delivered which ensures safety and is committed to promoting recovery. Complete all requirements relating to data collection within the service. Keep clinical records of all patient related activity in line with service protocols and use these records and clinical outcome data in clinical decision making.

Work closely with other members of the service ensuring appropriate step-up and step-down arrangements are in place to maintain a stepped care approach. Assess and integrate issues surrounding work and employment into the overall therapy process. Always operate from an inclusive values base which promotes recovery and recognises and respects diversity. Prepare and present clinical information for all patients on your caseload to clinical case management supervisors within the service on a weekly basis, in order to ensure that safe practice and the clinical governance obligations of the staff member, supervisor and service are delivered.

Respond to and implement suggestions made by supervisors in clinical practice. Engage in and respond to clinical skills supervision to improve competences and clinical practice. Work with third sector colleagues (e.g., Big Life Group, Intuitive Thinking, Outspoken Manchester); as well as other prison-based services such as: probation, offender management, CGL and programmes to further support the best clinical pathways for the services. Promote positive messages regarding public health.

Maintain BABCP registration adhering to all re-registration criteria. Ensure the maintenance of standards of practice according to the employer and any regulating body and keep up to date with new recommendations/ guidelines set by the Department of Health. Adhere to legislation, policies, and procedures of GMMH and HMPPS and ensure that your knowledge is maintained an up to date. Ensure that patient confidentiality is protected in line with Trust Policy.

Exercise personal responsibility for the systematic clinical governance of your own professional practice. To ensure that patient confidentiality is protected in line with Trust Policy.
