**Based at** Inverclyde Family Contact Centre - 6 Jamaica Street, Greenock

**Job Purpose**

Our mission is helping families build loving and nurturing relationships in line with the Promise.

We aim to help families keep or rebuild relationships between the child and the person seeking contact following parental breakups. Some families have a variety of issues alongside relationship breakdowns. These can include drug and alcohol addiction; having a parent in prison; a parent or child with a disability or addiction support needs, language barriers and a lack of parenting skills.

**Role requirements**

Your role as a childcare worker will be to support children by engaging them with family members through various planned activities.

You will be responsible for creating provocations for play in each area of the centre, to encourage interactions.

The role requires being alert and attentive of the children and families in the centre and recognising their need for varying levels of support and encouragement.

Then working closely alongside specific families where more support is needed.

**Skills**
- Excellent at understanding and recognising the feelings of others.
- The ability to work with a range of people, of all ages, personalities, backgrounds, and gender with a non-judgemental and child-centred approach.
- Patience and the ability to work well under pressure, remaining calm during stressful situations and able to manage the emotional workload.
- Excellent communication, observation and listening skills.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team,
- Experience of working with children and families,
- Written & oral communication skills & computer literacy.
- PVG Scheme Membership required.

**Job Type**: Part-time

**Salary**: £11.50-£12.50 per hour

Expected hours: 10 per week
