**About the Role**:
The vacancy sits within the Scheduling Centre of Expertise (SCoE), which is one of four functional expertise areas within the wider Estimating discipline (alongside Cost Estimating, Cost Modelling and Risk) within Cost Assurance Analysis Service (CAAS). The SCoE is the functional lead for schedule management within CAAS. The successful applicant will work in a high-profile team directed by Director General Finance at the heart of Defence to provide leadership in Cost Management to Enabling Organisations (EAs) and Front Line Commands (FLCs). As a scheduler within SCoE you will get the opportunity to work across the defence operating model on many of the top priority defence programmes.

The advantage of this role is its position within Head Office offering a unique variety of workstreams across different programmes. This is in comparison to a standard schedule SEO role where limitations could be to delivering one element of one project in one area of the project lifecycle. This exciting role provides greater depth and growth as well as technical leadership, and it allows the opportunity to develop skills in schedule assurance, work with defence partners and other Government departments to improve schedule capability.

Schedule is a growing and maturing function pan defence with strategic priorities in developing schedule management capability to inform better investment decisions in the future. This role provides the opportunity to help shape the future and meet the departments strategic ambitions. The work you do will make a difference in improving the MoDs ability to support our armed forces with better equipment delivered on time and held to budget.

The post reports to the SCoE Section Leader, who is also the Schedule Lead for CAAS and advertised for 37 hours per week.

**Job description**:
The scheduler roles positioned in the CAAS SCoE offer excellent opportunities to deliver packages of work on a variety of high profile and significant Defence projects/programmes. The SCoE established to operate as the Functional Lead for Schedule Management within CAAS. You will be ideally positioned to provide skills and expertise in the improvement of schedule capability across Defence. As a Scheduler you will be expected to but not limited to:

- Work alongside FLC and EA partners conducting schedule analysis and developing schedule assurance reports which will provide a level of scrutiny to determine if the project/programme schedule is credible to the extent it can be relied upon as a plausible representation of the project. This may be but not limited to, support to approvals and will require the post holder to determine supportive recommendations for improvement.
- Work with FLCs and EAs to help realise recommendations and support and assist in their practical implementation to improve standards.
- Improving the quality and realism of CAAS product outputs by working to improve schedule capability across CAAS teams. Better informing CAAS products and helping to establish a strong schedule function that will support the delivery of CAAS strategic objectives.
- As a schedule functional leader, you will build relationships with Defence partners i.e. Project Delivery Function and develop and share schedule guidance, process and ‘good practice’ documentation as well as the development of training material, and supporting the Estimating Capability Development Scheme (ECDS)
