Antenatal Clinic Receptionist/booking Clerk

Maternity Services have an exciting opportunity within our Ante-natal Clinic Reception Team in Singleton Hospital.
We are looking to appoint to a number of Band 2 reception/booking clerk admin roles (either full time or part time posts are available), all posts are permanent and will work alongside an already well established team within Neath Port Talbot Hospital.
You will be provided with training and support to learn the role and the service and cross cover would sometimes be requested to support our NPT Hospital site.
To work as a member of a team providing an efficient and comprehensive clerical support service for the SBUHB Ante-natal clinics thereby supporting the delivery of high quality service to patients and staff within the Department.
Swansea Bay University Health Board covers a population of around 390,000 in Neath/Port Talbot and Swansea areas and we have a budget of around £1bn.

Singleton Hospital, overlooking Swansea Bay, hosts a range of maternity services across the site. Theses include;
- antenatal clinics,
- day assessment unit,
- acute assessment unit,
- ante-natal ward,
- our midwifery led bay birth unit,
- labour ward,
- post natal ward,
- obstetric theatre
- close links with our tertiary neonatal unit on site and transitionary care unit on antenatal ward.
Alongside Singleton Hospital we have a Community Midwifery Team who support patients in the community.
Neath/Port Talbot Hospital was opened in 2003 and has roughly 200 beds. Our Maternity services in NPT comprise of:
- Ante-natal clinics
- Day Assessment Unit
- Midwifery Led Unit
We also have a Community Midwifery Team in Neath/Port Talbot who will support patients in the community.
- Responsible for faxing and photocopying as identified by the appropriate member of staff, which may include confidential or sensitive information, ensuring any confidential material not required is disposed of correctly.
- Attend departmental meetings as appropriate.
- Provide non-clinical information or guidance to patients/relatives.
- Distribute/redirect as required clinical and patient correspondence.
- Communicate with and promote good working relationships with medical, nursing, other health professionals and outside agencies or tertiary hospitals as appropriate, helping and dealing with enquiries orally, written and electronically.
- Liaise with other departments e.g. Radiology to check scanning appointment times, Physiotherapy, ECG department and many more.
- Liaise with Consultants/Medical Staff/Midwifery staff regarding DNA & UTA guidelines.
- Liaise with Medical staff/Clinic staff regarding clinic availability slots.
- Support Multi-disciplinary working, liaising with outside agencies, medical staff and management.
- Check rota’s to ensure rescheduling of clinics where appropriate.
- Ensure the provision of accurate statistical data and other information in accordance with the statutory requirements.
- Assist with general clerical duties as necessary including receiving, delivering and sorting mail.
- Attend education and training activities in line with Departmental and Organisational objectives as agreed.
- Take responsibility for personal development and education.
- Participate in the PADR process both as an individual and being responsible for the completion of PADR’s for specific staff under the Manager.
- Personal duty of care for the safe use of equipment.
- Work in a busy, sometimes stressful environment in a safe, organised manner and report all faults, damage and accidents promptly to the Clinic Sister/Midwifery Matron
