Job description

Full Time / 37 Hours Per Week / Fixed Term for 18 months

Play a key role in supporting the delivery of the Suicide Prevention programme.

Join our highly regarded and dedicated Public Health team to support the effective management and delivery of specific local health improvement programmes related to suicide prevention. Working with key partners, we are leading on the delivery of robust place and neighbourhood-based prevention work in Leicester. This work will be underpinned by the creation of ‘Mental Healthy Friendly Places and Communities’ to improve mental wellbeing and resilience within local communities.

This is a Full-time, Fixed Term position for 18 months, working 37 hours per week from Monday to Friday. On occasion you may be required to work evenings and weekends. Based at City Hall, you’ll have the flexibility to work from home.

**What you’ll be doing**

You’ll support on the delivery of the NHS England and NHS Improvement (NHSE/I) Wave 4 Suicide Prevention Programme. Responsible for early scoping and consultation during project development, you’ll ensure allocated projects / work streams are delivered within appropriate levels of quality, time, budget, resources, and performance. You’ll advance conversations about mental health and suicide in all Leicester communities, challenge negative perceptions, reduce stigma and make it easier to access early help. Carrying out engagement work, you’ll address stigma by encouraging open conversations in local communities about suicide and its impact on families, and communities using the established Start a Conversation campaign. You’ll work closely with the LLR Suicide Audit and Prevention Group and support the delivery of the LLR Suicide Prevention Strategic Approach 2020-23 but will have freedom in the role to develop and shape project delivery to ensure local needs are met. You’ll deliver MHFA Training in Leicester to support the development of Mental Health Friendly communities.

**What you’ll need**

You’ll have experience and knowledge of project management and good practice to deliver programmes to a high standard. You’ll have a good understanding of the wider determinants of health and the role local government and other agencies play in the health and wellbeing agenda. Using strong analytical skills, you’ll be able to effectively analyse issues and implement effective, creative, and innovative solutions, while identifying and managing risks. With excellent IT skills, you’ll be able to maintain and develop spreadsheets, prepare engaging presentations for a variety of audiences, and utilise communication tools to create resources and social media content. You’ll be able to work effectively as part of a team, facilitate discussions, develop networks, and negotiate with decision makers. With the ability to use a range of skills and strategies, you’ll support people to make a difference.
