**The Company and the Role**:
Wessex Cancer Trust is a medium-sized charity which offers support to people affected by cancer, their families and friends. The charity operates in Hampshire, IOW and Dorset.

Voluntary donations from fundraising and income from 5 charity shops help fund services which are delivered in 4 cancer support centres, in hospitals and the community throughout the region.

The Trust relies on voluntary income to fund its work, raising money through fundraising activities and via a trading subsidiary of charity shops.

They are now seeking a Trust Fundraiser.. Reporting into the Director of Fundraising and

Marketing this is a fantastic opportunity for a highly motivated individual to raise money

through grants and donations from charitable trusts, by developing well researched and

compelling funding propositions, and building strong long-term relationships with funders

The role is full - time ( 37.5 hours per week) The place of work is flexible and can be a hybrid of working at home (usually around 40% of working time) and approximately 60% of the postholder’s time will be spent working and attending meetings in the charity’s Head Office in Chandlers Ford.

**Key Features of the Role**:

- Secure multi-year and one-off grants from charitable trusts, and other grant making bodies.
- Maintain a pipeline of funding opportunities ensuring that all funder profiles are complete and up to date
- Develop and maintain an excellent knowledge of Wessex Cancer Trust services and build strong internal relationships with colleagues especially service delivery and finance teams.
- Stay abreast of all fundraising opportunities the charity has to offer and prepare strong and compelling grant proposals for all fundable areas of the charity, working closely with colleagues from other teams.
- Write and submit end of grant and interim funding reports to donors and funders within agreed timescales.
- Deliver exemplary stewardship to donors that inspires continued support, through written communications as well as through events, visits and meetings.
- Work with the wider fundraising team to explore cross-over of opportunities between trust, major donor and corporate supporters

**Knowledge and Skills Required**:

- Well-developed understanding of the value and importance of the voluntary sector, and trust fundraising
- Well-honed communication skills (verbal, written, listening), with demonstrable experience of writing compelling proposals and presentations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with experience in building strong long-term relationships
- Strong organisational and administrative skills with meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to understand and interpret data to be used to secure funding.
- Demonstrable ability to plan, prioritise and work proactively under own initiative
- A team player with flexible approach, willing to work with and support colleagues across the organisation
- Excellent PC / IT skills, including Microsoft 365, SharePoint and databases
- Empathy with Wessex Cancer Trust’s aims and values, including an understanding of and commitment to equality and diversity
- A full UK driving license and access to a reliable vehicle

**What’s on Offer?**

This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly motivated individual to make an impact as a vital member of our Wessex Cancer Trust team, helping them to support more people affected by cancer in the Wessex region.

They offer a competitive salary of between £28,000 - 30,000 depending upon experience and skill set with contributory pension scheme, 25 days holiday, employee counselling helpline, cycle to work scheme, mental health first -aiders and personal development programme and free parking at head office.

The position is full -time, permanent working 37.5 hours per week. The charity (will consider

part-time or flexible working requests).
