The Pre Op Assessment Sister (B7) will have an excellent knowledge of pre
- operative assessment and the prehab processes. They are accountable and responsible for the care delivery and management of the Pre Operative Assessment and Surgical admissions for elective surgical patients. The B7, Pre Op Assessment Sister will promote and monitor safe and effective practice, enhance the patient experience, provide effective leadership and management, and contribute to the delivery of the Trust/Divisional objectives.

They must ensure delivery of high quality, responsive, safe, efficient and compassionate care.

The B7 will act as a leader and role model, adopting a flexible approach in a role which encompasses leadership, management, and clinical responsibilities.

They must have excellent communication skills ( verbal, written and telephone)

Demonstrate pride in their work and enthusiasm for quality of care of patients attending the Pre
- Operative Assessment Department.

They are responsible for professional day to day clinical leadership.

❯Produces information leaflets
❯ Simple process mapping
❯ Completes audit of service outcomes, including incident reports. Identifies trends and change of practice when required
❯ Presents case studies at clinical governance
❯ Responds to complaints
❯ Responsible for sickness and absence Human Resources
❯ Provides training within POA
❯ Implements development of team with educational program
❯ Awareness and implementation of latest national guidelines and clinical practice changes
❯ Aspire to Delivering lectures within the Preoperative Association conference

Able to explore a patients past medical history to illicit detailed history, request all pathology, skilled to complete chest auscultation

Interpret abnormal findings and take appropriate action, work in Autonomy

Able to complete medication history and advise on medication changes prior to admission in accordance with UKCPA guidance
