**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**JOB TITLE**: Learning Co-ordinator

**GRADE**: G11

**HOURS**: 37 per week, term time only plus an additional 2 weeks.

**LINE MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTABILITY**:
Under the line-management supervision of a Deputy Headteacher or Assistant Headteacher, to support, hold accountable, develop and lead the Tutor Team for the designated Year Group to ensure high standards of achievement and attainment and the well-being of staff and students. To provide regular progress updates to the Deputy Headteacher or Assistant Headteacher consistent with the procedures in the school’s self-evaluation policy.

**1) PURPOSE OF THE POST**:

- To be responsible for the academic, personal and social achievement, progression and attainment of the designated year group.
- To monitor, evaluate and review standards, efficiency and effectiveness of all areas of the team’s work and ensure the implementation of Whole School Policies, supporting colleagues in their implementation.

**2) ACCOUNTABILITIES**:

- To collate, create, agree and support the achievement of designated student progress targets for the year group and to make a measurable contribution to whole school targets, strategically plan for their achievement and evaluate progress through tracking students’ attainment.
- To lead the creation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of Year Team improvement plans ensuring they make a significant contribution to the whole school improvement plan and the attainment of its targets.
- To provide regular feedback to staff in a way that recognises good practice resulting in a tangible impact in student learning.
- To take the lead role in planning a unified tutor programme that shows progression and continuity and is appropriate to the Year Group.
- To actively implement and promote the school’s inclusion policies to ensure equality of opportunity for every student in order that they achieve their full potential.

**KEY ASPECTS**

**The post holder is required to**:

- Provide active leadership for staff and students in the designated year group to ensure an ethos which enables students to develop academically, socially, morally and spiritually.
- Manage and support the staff team ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day routines and administration, including the strategic leadership of key issues affecting learning: monitoring pupil attendance, punctuality, behaviour.
- Take strategic oversight and maintain efficient and regular contact between home and school, nurturing this partnership to the benefit of students including: working with parents, organising Family Consultation Days and Subject Evenings, writing Learning Co-ordinator comments on tutor reports, managing Pastoral Support Plans and attending case conferences when necessary.
- Monitor, evaluate and review standards, efficiency and effectiveness of all areas of the Year Team’s work and ensuring the implementation of Whole School Policies. Conduct student voice interviews and support work scrutinies.
- Be an active presence around the school, conduct learning walks and observe the engagement of the cohort to inform intervention strategies. Conduct tutorial observations.
- Maintain professional records and evaluate data to inform the planning process.
- Support colleagues in the implementation of School Policies on student behaviour and discipline and all other policies.

**SCHOOL ROLE**

**The post holder is required to**:
Enable students to raise their standards of achievement, improve their attendance and demonstrate excellent behaviour for learning by:

- Making contact with parents and working with them to engage in their child’s learning including home visits when necessary
- Working with the attendance officer and EWO to monitor attendance and punctuality
- Establishing a clear system of sanctions and rewards in line with school policies
- Establishing clear standards of care and discipline by developing consistent expectations of behaviour including providing a significant presence in the school and taking appropriate action to resolve disciplinary matters according to school policies and procedures.
- Taking overall responsibility for the general well-being of the students within the cohort
- Celebrating student success within the year group.
- Ensuring that work is sent home for students who may be out of school for a period of time and returned for marking.
- Managing the reintegration of students after any term of absence or exclusion.
- Managing the admission of new students to the year group.
- Organise whole year group events including assemblies, parents’ evenings, family consultation days and inter tutor group activities.
- Ensure appropriate support, both pastoral and academic, is in place for students in the year group by working co-operatively with teaching staff and others.
- Lead a team of tutors to take an active role in supporting and developing a culture of team working for the benefit of students, both individually
