Principal Planning Officer - Planning Policy

Warwickshire County Council have an opportunity for an experienced Policy Planner to further develop their career in plan making within a County Planning Authority and contribute to the delivery of sustainable development.

You will provide expert professional planning policy and plan making advice relating to minerals and waste and land use development.

You will need to hold a relevant degree or equivalent in planning or a similar related environmental or legal discipline and hold or be eligible for Chartered Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute. You will have varied experience of development plan policy making and have a thorough understanding of the responsibilities of the County Council in the Plan making process and the contribution of plan making to sustainable development.

You will have a thorough understanding of current and emerging planning policy legislation and guidance. You will have experience as an expert witness in Examination in Public and in responding to challenge and political awareness within the planning policy role.

Working as part of a small Planning Policy and Infrastructure team, you will
- lead and assist in the formulation of strategic policy and advice its implementation and monitoring.
- To provide strategic guidance and advice on strategic planning matters to colleagues at local and regional level.
- To play a leading role in the preparation of the Minerals and Waste Local plans and LDF’s
