**Job summary**:
Active Forests is a national partnership between Forestry England and Sport England which has been running for 8 years. Active Forests aims to connect people with nature and improve their health and wellbeing through physical activity and wellbeing activities. Working with groups identified as being least active which includes women and girls, minority ethnic groups, younger adults, older adults, those with impairments or long-term health conditions.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and well-organised individual to join our team at Wendover Woods to continue delivery of Active Forests so people can take part in a broad range of health and wellbeing activities. You’ll be working in partnership to plan and co-ordinate a mixture of quality led and self-led activities which people can participate in during their visit.

Wendover Woods has well established activities such as Breeze into the Forest, Forest Bathing, parkrun, endurance races, Ecstatic Dance, Gruffalo Orienteering taking place and we’re looking for someone to lead on these and create new experiences for our visitors.

Wendover Woods is located within the Chilterns ANOB, five miles east of Aylesbury, and attracts over 400,000 visitors annually. In 2019 the visitor and recreation facilities where improved through a £4.5m project which significantly enhanced the capacity and quality of the recreation offer alongside attracting new visitors.

**Job description**:
As the Active Forest Coordinator you will be responsible for co-ordinating a programme of quality activities, events and projects delivered by third party providers. Collecting data to measure the impact of your work, achieving agreed financial targets and communicating with the Wendover team and stakeholders.

You’ll build strong relationships both internally and externally, sharing learning with other Active Forest Coordinators, identifying new opportunities and working collaboratively.

You’ll be creative, resourceful, have great initiative, being able to work with a range of different people and organisations.

Working as part of the Wendover Woods team you will help ensure visitors receive a high-quality experience and that our facilities remain in good condition and safe. You will be part of the duty manager rota and required to work some weekends and bank holidays.

Through your work you will support Forestry England to deliver our 5-year plan Growing Our Future.

The successful applicant will report to Wendover Forest Centre Operations Manager.

**Key Work Areas**
- Plan and co-ordinate a range of health and wellbeing activities which targets those who are less active.
- Build relationships with a range of different businesses, activity providers and health organisations who wish to use Wendover Woods.
- Market and promote the health and wellbeing activities to target audiences.
- Attend internal and external networking events.
- Deliver nationally produced Active Forests activities (i.e. Gruffalo Orienteering).
- Recruit volunteers to help deliver Active Forests activities.
- Collect and analyse data to check activities are helping to deliver Forestry England objectives.
- Represent Wendover Woods at national Active Forests meetings.

Essential Experience
- Experience of developing relationships and working with internal and external partners.
- Worked with activity providers and / or event organisers.
- A track record of delivering successful customer focused activities.
- Meeting health and safety standards.

Desirable Experience
- Planned and delivered marketing and /or promotion activities.
- Effective use of monitoring and evaluation to measure progress.

Essential Professional and Technical Expertise
- An interest and knowledge of health and wellbeing activities.
- A working knowledge of Microsoft IT systems.

Desirable Professional and Technical Expertise
- Experience working with individuals or groups identified as being least active.
