Process Safety Specialist

Organon in Cramlington, UK, are hiring the Process Safety Specialist, who will be providing the site with process safety advice and guidance and make recommendations for improvement to the Engineering, Projects and site operations groups.

In this role you will also be responsible for sharing knowledge and best practice across the site and also further development of site Process Safety Management Systems.

**Responsibilities**:

- Take the lead on all site aspects of process safety management including advice and guidance for operations & projects including but not limited to management of change for equipment, instrumentation, material changes and near miss and incident investigations.
- Ownership of the site PHA studies, re-validation to schedule and addition of new system to the schedule.
- Provide expertise or support externally resourced process safety risk assessments at the required frequency: HAZOP, LOPA, ATEX/DSEAR.
- Provide technical information and be the “intelligent customer” when using 3rd parties e.g. PHA’s, Mechanical ignition risk assessments
- Ensure process safety documentation delivered by projects is accurate and maintained.
- Track and drive action completion following assessments using established systems.
- Provide ownership and oversight of site procedures, include reviews of existing procedures and making recommendations for changes through the approved forums if required.
- Collaboration with required site and global functions, including providing updates to site leadership and global leadership teams.
- Coordination of any external training on process safety, i.e., PHA tools, concepts of dust explosion hazards.

**Requirements**:

- Minimum Degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
- Experience in process Engineering discipline
- Other relevant experience and/or qualifications considered. **_We are open to discussing the possibility of part-time, flexible or hybrid working._**
