This post is based within the Community Nutrition and Dietetic team at Scunthorpe and is the ideal place to broaden your practice as a Band 5 Dietitian.

Supported by experienced and expert senior colleagues, this position will offer excellent opportunities to develop your knowledge and skills in a range of clinical areas eg. digestive diseases, respiratory, oncology, Oral Nutritional Support, diabetes. You will also be supported to acquire competencies in enteral feeding.

You will receive ongoing informal and structured support from your senior colleagues, including assistance to complete your Preceptorship with a view to developing knowledge and skills where required. As you progress, you will have the opportunity for a high degree of autonomy in your clinical practice and day-to-day organisation of your work, within the context of a friendly and supportive team of dietetic colleagues. You will be encouraged to participate in service developments and will be able to access excellent training and support from the Trust’s Quality Improvement team. There will also be opportunities to train other health care professionals and patients/carers. You will be actively involved in student training with support to develop clinical supervisory skills.

You will need to have access to transport and the ability to safely transport yourself and equipment around the required geographical area during the course of your working day.

The post-holder will be an essential team member within the Nutrition and Dietetic Service, working alongside Dietitians, Senior Dietetic Support Workers and members of the wider multidisciplinary team. We also have excellent on-site administrative support.

Provide a high standard dietetic service undertaking all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.

Be responsible for the caseload in a defined area of the service, supervising, and allocating work to assistants and students, as delegated.

Provide advice to other health care professionals as appropriate for level of skills.

Use clinical reasoning skills and evidence-based practice to provide a diagnosis and to develop and deliver treatment programmes.

Participate in evidence-based audit and research projects to further quality improvement in the service.

Meet with and keep to the HCPC Standards of Proficiency and Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics

Deputise for Band 6 dietitian when required.
