As you’ll work with parents and guardians too, strong communication skills are really important, along with an understanding of some of the issues they may be facing.

Our team is close-knit and supportive. That support is also there from senior management. Quite simply, nothing gets in the way of us making sure that every child enjoys the best possible care and reaches their full potential. Ideally you have experience of working with children, particularly those with a learning disability, and you will be qualified to HNC level with SVQ3 (or willing to work towards these qualifications). In return there’s a benefits package that includes an employer contributory pension and generous holiday allowance.

Salary is pro rata of 38.50 hours per week (25.00).

**Main Function**:
To work as part of a team to provide successful short break activities for children and young people. To provide care and support in the residential setting, and in the community. To plan and implement activities to meet the individual needs and aspirations of service users. To ensure the highest quality of service delivery. To model good Social Care practice and CrossReach’s organisational values.

**Main Duties**:

- To be involved in the general day to day care and support of children and young people who have complex physical and psychological support needs.
- To work in accordance with CrossReach Standards and the National Care Standards.
- To help deliver the aims and objectives of the service and the wider organisation.
- To ensure individual personal care needs are met to the highest standards
- To ensure that all physical health needs are met as detailed in individual care plans, this will include supporting children and young people to take medication or to provide other health interventions as directed.
- To act as Keyworker to identified children and contribute to the setting up, carrying out and reviewing of care plans.
- To respond appropriately and flexibly to children’s needs during the time they are in our care, seeking advice from other professionals where necessary.
- To support the families and carers of the children and young people.
- To accurately record the above and make changes to care plans as needed.
- To carry out agreed behaviour support strategy plans.
- To communicate effectively with other team members, parents, carers and others as required. This may involve identifying where there are barriers to communication and overcoming them.
- To empower children to overcome barriers to access local services and leisure opportunities.
- To represent the service at reviews and other relevant meetings.
- To be a reflective practitioner and to participate in regular supervision in order to maintain professional development.
- To promote social inclusion initiatives.
- To contribute to the strategic development of the service.
- To undertake a flexible pattern of shifts.
- To undertake other duties as directed by Senior Staff to meet the needs of children and the aims of the service.

**Qualifications**:
Ideally you will be qualified to SVQ3 in Social Services (Children & Young People) and HNC level or be committed to gaining these qualifications.

**Personal**:
An interest in working with children and young people who have disabilities, some of which can lead to challenging behaviour.

As we do our work in Christ’s name you must be respectful of our Christian Ethos and be able to work within it.

This post requires you to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme and undertake the necessary vetting checks.
