**The role**

We are looking for positive, compassionate, and caring Assistant Residential Workers to join our residential teams at our Stoneside services, providing quality residential care and short breaks services for up to 7 young people aged between 8 - 18 years with children with various learning disabilities.

Within our residential service, we provide long-term placement for three boys ages 10 to 15. Our Short breaks service offers families a vital service where young people spend fun and quality time within the service out with their family home.

We support Children and Young People who can, at times, present with behaviours that can be physically and emotionally challenging, alongside having a range of complex needs. This means that the people we are looking for, must be emotionally resilient enough to remain calm and compassionate at the times when it's needed most. We never said this job was easy, but it is incredibly rewarding, and you have the chance to make a real difference to someone's life. Our Assistant Residential Workers support our Residential Worker, who in turn support our Children and Young People's daily living tasks, activities and hobbies, medication, and may include elements of personal care for the young people.

Our rota pattern is a combination of days; early (07.15am - 14.45pm), late (14.15pm-21.45pm), waking nights (21.30 - 07.30) and also with the option of sleepovers (21.40-07.15) for which you are paid an additional allowance. The rota is produced on a 4-weekly basis, you can take the shifts that suit you and your lifestyle. There will be a mixture of early and late shifts within each week with sleepovers also distributed within the staff team.

**You will make a difference by**:

- Supporting children to achieve positive outcomes for their future.
- Supporting with medical needs or support during all working hours if needed for the young person.
- Assisting the residential workers in their planned schedule & supporting the service.
- Providing a safe environment for the residents to enjoy time with their friends.
- Assisting the children in all aspects of their care and supporting their health and wellbeing.
- Being a figure that can be trusted by the residents of the service.

**You will need**:

- SVQ Level 3 Children and Young People or HNC in Social care or the academic equivalent (or willingness to undertake).
- Experience of working with children/young people with disabilities and/or challenging behaviour.
- Experience of working in a residential care setting and undertaking personal care.
- Be caring, compassionate and committed to making a difference.
- Flexibility in working patterns and for the needs of the service including evenings and weekends.
- Safeguarding knowledge.
- Knowledge of GIRFEC and National Care Standards.
