The Ministry of Defence (MOD) is a central government department with a mission to protect our country and provide the ultimate guarantee of its security and independence, as well as helping to protect its values and interests abroad.

**As a Service Owner, your main responsibilities will be**:

- Ensure necessary business processes are followed
- Participate in the governance of the service, including acting as a point of escalation for the delivery team
- Manage the budget of the service based on your decisions about priorities
- Communicate the benefits and performance of your service
- Be responsible for the successful operation and continuous improvement of the service
- Continuously improve and implement the Defence Digital approach to business rigour; support projects and programmes to achieve their outcomes through the analysis and assessment of key artefacts and wider thematic trends, in turn providing assurance on delivery health to senior leaders.
- Undertake portfolio level assessments of adherence to standards in line with guidance from the Defence Project Delivery Centre of Excellence, ensuring that robust action plans are implemented to address any areas of improvement.
- Ensure that portfolio standards, policy and guidance are regularly reviewed and updated to reflect best practice and align with any wider changes in departmental or government approach.
- On behalf of the portfolio team, own the relationship with Defence Digital’s Portfolio Integration Office teams to ensure consistency in standards.
- You will be responsible for ensuring that the Business Rigour service team is seen as a key point of support, guidance and expertise on all areas of delivery controls and assurance.
- You will need to work with stakeholders across the Ministry of Defence to ensure that Defence Digital’s approach is in line with wider departmental and government expectations, and that we constantly look for ways to improve processes and increase confidence in delivery.

You will be responsible for line management of the Business Rigour service area team and will work as part of the Defence Digital portfolio team senior leadership team, enabling collaboration and prioritisation to achieve our outcomes as a collective, as well as supporting the ongoing transformation of the team’s ways of working.
