**Summary**:
We are looking to appoint an experienced Bookkeeper to join our friendly team based in Northallerton. This is a varied and interesting role offering flexibility with full or part time hours to suit (Monday - Friday). An equestrian or farming background/interest is preferred but not essential.
The purpose of the role is to assist the Partners with all financial aspects of the business including accounts production, reconciliations, ledgers and submissions to HMRC.
**Key tasks and main responsibilities**:
- Responsible for the processing and reconciliation of Sales & Purchase Ledger.
- Matching, coding and inputting supplier invoices for payment.
- Posting payments to the sales ledger and reconcile customer accounts.
- Liaising with suppliers and customers to resolve any invoice issues.
- Production of month end reports.
- Calculation and submission of quarterly VAT returns.
- Production of cashflow forecasts including payments and receipts.
- Carrying out bank reconciliations.
- Preparation of quarterly accounts and liaising with the company’s external accountants.
- Credit control procedures, ensuring debts paid in a timely manner.
- Cash/till reconciliations and banking procedures, including online banking.
- Calculating and process inter-company transfers.
- Update Excel spreadsheets.
- Preparation of payroll and pensions information for external processing.
- Calculate and update pricing.
- Update and maintain accurate financial records.
- Extensive use of Sage Accounting Software & MS Office.
- Ensure compliance with accounts legislation including General Data Protection Regulations.
**Person Specification**:
- Previous experience in a similar accounts/bookkeeping role.
- Experience with Sage accounting software (or similar).
- Experience of POS systems preferred.
- Ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Experience of online sales/transactions is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Adaptable to change and comfortable working in a face paced environment.
- Ability to prioritise effectively.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- Experience of working to deadlines.
- Proactive approach to problem solving and learning new skills.
