**Lecturer Grade F**: £37,474 to £42,155 per annum

**Lecturer Grade G**: £43,414 per annum

The Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and high calibre lecturer in mathematical sciences with a focus on technology-enhanced learning. You will deliver an excellent student education and outstanding student experience through your own teaching, while being part of our leading team to design and deliver innovative teaching, assessment and curricula using state-of-the-art digital technologies. You will develop a portfolio of independent research and/or pedagogic scholarship that compliments the School’s existing activities in mathematical sciences.

In mathematical sciences, the school has activities which span statistics and data science, pure and applied mathematics, and technology-enhanced mathematical education. It has a portfolio of Bachelor and Integrated Master’s programmes and contributes to teaching outside the school in broad disciplines including engineering, computer science, medical sciences and business studies. Through our world-renowned Digital Learning Unit School of Mathematics, Statistics and Physics E-Learning Unit - School of Mathematics, Statistics and Physics - Newcastle University (ncl.ac.uk)

We integrate innovative technologies for e-assessment and digital content; for example, the open-source e-assessment software Numbas which is used around the world in academia, schools and companies.

Key Accountabilities
As part of its strategy to provide a world-class student education and experience, the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Physics (MSP) is looking to appoint a dynamic and enthusiastic Lecturer in Mathematical Sciences with a remit for the development and delivery of technology-enhanced learning. The specific responsibilities of the position are to:

- Undertake teaching in mathematical sciences
- Develop a portfolio of world-class research and/or scholarship, which may include activities such as publishing in high-quality journals, presenting findings at conferences, securing and managing externally-funded projects, and building and managing a team
- Contribute to the general life and work of the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Physics, including helping to foster the academic community, being a good colleague, and contributing to the organisational and academic management of the school
- Carry out administrative duties as assigned by the Head of School and the School Executive Board

The Person

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Experience in delivering excellent teaching in the mathematical sciences
- Experience in designing new taught content, assessments and/or approaches to delivery
- Demonstrable expertise in mathematical or statistical software (e.g. R, Python)
- Experience of using digital content in teaching, such as mathematical/statistical software or web-based material
- A developing or established portfolio of high-quality research and/or pedagogic scholarship (when addressing this criteria in your cover letter, please summarise in no more than half a page your future plans for research and/or pedagogic scholarship)
