The Ellison Institute of Technology [EIT] develops and deploys technology in pursuit of solving some of humanity’s most challenging and enduring problems. Guided by world leaders, scientists and entrepreneurs, EIT seeks to accelerate innovation in medical science and healthcare, food security and sustainable agriculture, clean energy and climate change, and government policy and economics.

Within the UK EIT is expanding upon its existing collaborations with the University of Oxford by building a 320,000ft2 research institute and medical clinic at the nearby Oxford Science Park.

We are seeking an experienced and proactive HR Officer to support and grow in role as we scale up. Being accountable for HR administration, data accuracy on systems, employee onboarding experience and partnering with hiring managers on recruitment they will be pivotal to providing a seamless HR support function.

Hours of work will generally be Monday to Friday, core hours 08:30-17:30 and will be office/site based. However due to the nature of the role and organisation, there may be times where flexibility is required during the evening and occasionally weekends to accommodate interaction with EIT Los Angeles and also on international recruitment campaigns managed by Oxford.

**Duties/Responsibilities**:
May include some or all the following responsibilities:
**HR Administration**:

- Manage day-to-day HR operations, including but not limited to employee record management, new hire processing including background checks and referencing, payroll processing, benefits administration, and compliance with employment legislation and regulations.
- Develop and maintain HR policies and procedures in alignment with institute goals and legal requirements.
- Ensure accurate and timely maintenance of employee data and documentation.

**New Employee Onboarding**:

- Design and execute a comprehensive onboarding programme to ensure smooth integration of new hires into the company culture and operations.
- Coordinate orientation sessions, prepare onboarding materials, and facilitate introductions to key team members and departments.
- Gather feedback from new employees to continuously improve the onboarding experience.

**Recruitment Processes**:

- Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and develop effective recruitment strategies.

**HR Strategy and Development**:

- Collaborate with the Director, Human Resources and support senior management to align HR initiatives and best practice with business objectives and growth plans.
- Identify areas for improvement in HR practices and develop innovative solutions to address challenges.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in HR management and leverage insights to drive continuous improvement.

**Person Specification**

**Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience**
- Prior experience in a HR role.
- Competent with HR administration.
- Excellent user of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Unfazed dealing with ambiguity.
- Detail conscious.
- Excellent standard of written English.
- Highly organised and driven by task outcomes and goals.

**Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Experience**

**Qualified by experience.**
- HR qualification advantageous.
- Undertaken and managed recruitment campaigns previously.
- Experience of, and a passion for, culture, E, D & I.

**Terms of Appointment**
- You must be eligible to work in the UK with a willingness to travel as necessary.
- You must be based in, or within easy commuting distance of, Oxford.
- During peak periods, some longer hours may be required and some working across multiple time zones due to the global nature of the programme.
