Hilltop Doggy Day Care is looking for a responsible, communicative and passionate individual to join our growing team, taking on a hybrid role of Day Care Supervisor & Doggy Bus Driver.

Each day Hilltop provides exercise, enrichment and care for up to 35 dogs and puppies. This role will join our existing team in ensuring Hilltop is a safe and fun experience for every dog we are entrusted to look after.

The role reports into Hilltop’s Team Lead and works from 7.30am - 4.30pm, Monday - Friday. Please note, as aspects of this role are dog welfare-related, you may be contacted out with this time if the Hilltop team need to clarify anything.

**The role involves the following duties**:
**Canine Caring Duties**:

- Oversees a designated small group of dogs (no more than 10 dogs at a time) within the secure surroundings of Hilltop.
- Responsible for dog wellbeing, by monitoring dog behaviour and body language, as well the impact of environmental conditions (e.g seeking shade in hot weather, providing shelter in wet conditions)
- Maintaining an understanding of the needs of individual dogs and how this informs their day care experience and requirements e.g age, breed, mobility etc
- Promptly reporting and escalating any concerns about the wellbeing or welfare of any dog in Hilltop’s care to the Team Lead in the first instance
- Enriching the lives of the dogs in our care through games, play, exercise, interaction and affection, either one-to-one or within the group setting
- Feeding, including preparation of meals for dogs with special dietary requirements and allergies
- Confidence to intervene to maintain the wellbeing of the group e.g giving boisterous dogs a 'cool down' walk and identifying when puppies and young dogs need crate rest

**Customer Interaction**:

- Representing Hilltop and its culture and values when greeting customers on the doorstep to collect and drop-off their dogs
- Comfortable being the ‘front line’ of Hilltop customer service when picking up & dropping off; including the fielding of customer queries and enquiries
- Working alongside Hilltop colleagues to assist with the arrival and departure of dogs being dropped off or picked up by owners, on site.

**Safety Procedures & Protocols**:

- Responsible for the safety of all dogs aboard the doggy bus at all times; including - but not limited to - safe driving, safe loading and unloading and transiting to and from Hilltop
- Awareness of the safety protocols, procedures and Scottish Borders Council Licence regulations that pertain to Hilltop’s responsibility for all dogs in its care and the people delivering this service
- Following a pick-up & drop-off schedule prepared in advance for you to follow, and being comfortable with last minute changes or additions
- Working together and using your initiative to maintain the cleanliness and overall hygiene of Hilltop through the picking up and disposal of dog waste in designated bins, disinfecting and mopping of urine and / or standing water, disinfecting of dog dishes and bowls after feeding and the cleaning of spaces, both indoors and outdoors
- Being open and receptive to taking instruction, feedback and guidance from the Team Lead as a means of continuously improving the safety and experience for all involved
- Assisting in day-to-day management and maintenance of Hilltop, including - but not limited to - ensuring dog toys do not pose a risk (e.g sharp or broken parts that could cause injury) and, likewise, the fabric of the land and building (e.g reporting faults or broken equipment to the Team Lead or Hilltop's Senior Management Team)

**Team work & Internal Communication**:

- Contributing to a fun, engaging and positive atmosphere associated with working for a small team in a growing company
- Attending the monthly team meeting (held during a lunch break, 1 x day per month) to hear about Hilltop developments and contribute to collaborative feedback and ideation within this
- Participating in the ‘Hilltoppers’ Whatsapp group, which includes the sharing of banter, observations, ideas and updates amongst the team.
- Capturing photographs and videos of the dogs throughout the day that are then used on Hilltop’s social media channels and other communications and marketing channels
- General ideation that contributes to a dynamic and exciting place to work

**Preferred Experience & Qualifications**:

- Professional experience working with dogs e.g in other day care settings and / or in kennel environments
- HNC or HND in animal care or other relevant qualification
- Track record undertaking other forms of canine-related training e.g IMDT or canine first aid

- Full, clean driving licence
- Aged 25
