A Night Senior Healthcare Assistant must be well versed in a number of care and medical techniques. They must be informed about the most recent care techniques available and always be looking for ways to improve their skills and knowledge. You'll work under the guidance of our staff nurses and you duties will include:

- Able to organise, guide and lead the care team to deliver 24 hour continuous care and take charge of the Home during night shift in the absence of a staff nurse.
- To continuously assess and monitor Residents for changes in dependency acting in their best interests.
- To actively implement & evaluate Service Users care plans, risk assessment and other monitoring tools
- To promote health and safety practices within the home reporting any issues, problems or accidents immediately maintaining confidentiality
- To establish and maintain good relationships between Service Users, relatives and staff.
- To ensure safe administration of medications following the Company Policy and Health Authority guidelines.
- To adhere to the Company’s policies and procedures and to ensure others are fully conversant with them.
- To allocate duties and tasks to Care staff on a daily shift basis
- To evaluate services delivered daily to maintain high standards including
- food and drink, personal cares, managing continence, safe supervision of residents and assist the housekeepers to maintain high level of cleanliness of service users personal and communal areas.
- To continually improve and update own professional knowledge.
- To assist with induction and regular training of all care staff.
- Be involved in staff personal development programme, carrying out supervisions and appraisals for staff.
- To carry out other duties requested from time to time, which is deemed reasonable and appropriate to knowledge and skills.
- Report any concerns about a service user or the safe running of the service to the Home Manager
- Will have the generalised knowledge and understanding of their job role and related tasks although it is expected that this will be further developed than a HCA.
- Will have a broad skill base related to their practice.
- Role remit will consist of delegated tasks and duties which they will plan and prioritise in consultation with registered nurses.
- Liaise and maintain links with outside agencies, external professionals and family members including attendance and participation in review and other meetings.
- Will support and act as a role model to HCAs.
- At all times, will act under the delegation and supervision of a registered nurse.

To be a Senior Healthcare Assistant, you'll need to be
- caring and kind
- cheerful and friendly
- willing to be hands-on with patients
- willing to do personal care tasks (washing, toileting, etc)
- able to follow instructions and procedures
- able to lead a team, work in a team and use their own initiative
- able to respect the confidence of our residents and be aware that all information pertaining to the residents and their treatment should be treated in the strictest confidence

You'll also need
- communication skills, including listening
- organisation skills
- observational skills
- to be aware of your own limitations

**Requirements**:

- You will have to hold an SVQ Level 3 or equivalent or be willing to work towards one
- To undertake our relevant online training courses which will keep you aware of issues regarding our residents
- Medication administration competency / certificated or be willing to work towards.
- Registered with SSSC as a Supervisor
- An understanding of the Social Care Code of Conduct
