**Hourly Rate**: £53 per hour (assignment rate)

**Contract Type**: Locum, 3-Months

**Duties**:

- Deliver drug and alcohol clinical and prescribing services to the service population
- Clinical assessment with or without Prescribing a range of medications (including controlled drugs) to support recovery in line with national and organisational guidelines and policies
- Prescribe cost effectively and according to best practice and provide prescribing information and advice to Pharmacists, Shared Care GPs and hospital staff
- Undertake Service User centred assessments, care planning, monitoring, evaluation and reviews in practice and outreach settings
- Blood Borne Virus (BBV) management (risk assessment, pre and post-test counselling, testing and immunisation)
- Deliver health promotion and harm reduction interventions in a client-centred manner (e.g. safer sex, contraception, nutrition and healthy living).
- Promote and deliver immunisation against Hepatitis B in line with national guidance
- Contribute to the maintenance of client clinical database; co-ordinate data entry and retrieval searches and reports to meet the internal and external service requirements as appropriate and ensuring data security at all times
- Liaise with pharmacists regarding supervised dispensing and prescription queries
- Share care with GPs for Service Users in Primary Care Extended Services (PCES)/Primary Care Recovery Services (PCRS).
- Deliver clinical interventions across hubs in different locations and deliver outreach as required

**Requirements for the role of Independent Prescriber**:

- Willing to undertake an enhanced DBS check
- First level registered nurse or registrered pharmacist
- Independent Prescriber qualified
- RCGP Qualifications Level 1 (and 2 or willingness to work towards)
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook Office programmes
- Experience of entering complex information onto an electronic / clinical data base
- Experience in delivering evidence based treatments in Substance Misuse
- Previous experience of carrying out general health care assessment including BBV, and delivering health promotion/ harm reduction interventions, advice and information
- Awareness of social context of drug misuse and the wider implications of the behaviour
- Understanding of complexities of primary health care and the constrictions and opportunities inherent in the primary care sector
- Awareness and experience of the principles of Audit
