To provide a wide range of stimulating activities.

To interest and stimulate the physical and mental state and well-being of the service users

To understand the need of promoting the philosophy of privacy, dignity, independence, choice, rights and fulfilment for all service users treating all with respect.

**PRINCIPAL DUTIES**

To participate in enhancing the intellectual and social well-being of the service users. We aim to provide as far as possible a happy and stimulating experience and support service users to socialise within the care home.

Encourage staff members family and friends to participate in the homes’ activities

To plan ongoing activity rotas in conjunction with service users wishes and to support service users to maintain pre-existing hobbies

Maintain full and accurate records of activities using relevant documentation in order to monitor and evaluate individual and group participation and success.

Keep updated of developments in the field of caring for service users and foster good community relationships.

Assist in fund raising initiatives within the care home.

Planning special events such as coffee mornings, summer fetes and other social events outside the care home when restrictions allow.

Assist the manager to promote a positive profile within the community through fostering strong relationships and supporting social media efforts.

**COMMUNICATION**

Discuss aims and objectives of recreational therapy with other staff members

Report any changes in the service users physical or emotional condition to the Home Manager or senior staff members

Provide company and comfort for service users who cannot participate in meaningful activities

Participate in service users and family meetings when required

**TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT**

Complete mandatory training and maintain professional knowledge and competence

**HEALTH AND SAFETY**

To be responsible for your own health and safety and that of service users and staff members who may be affected by acts or omissions

Complete risk assessments on activities provided and promote safe working practices in the care home

**GENERAL DUTIES**

In addition to the above there are duties that all staff members must adhere to

Take responsibility for Safeguarding within the care home follow the care homes Whistle Blowing Policy, as required

Participation in staff meetings and training

Participation in staff supervision and appraisals

All the care homes policies and procedures must be adhered to

Follow all Health and Safety, Infection Control and Fire Safety precautions

Work within the remit of the Equal Opportunity and Discrimination policy

**Job Types**: Part-time, Temporary, Permanent
Contract length: 3 months
Part-time hours: 20 per week

**Salary**: £10.42 per hour

Due to the nature of the business, Infection Control is essential. Staff members will be expected to wear appropriate PPE and abide by Infection Control guidelines.
