Residential Summer School Welfare Officer Portsmouth

New College Group is a successful provider of summer English courses for young people aged 12-17. We are looking to recruit a residential Welfare Officer for our summer school based in Portsmouth (University of Portsmouth). The school runs from 23 June - 18 August, but you will be required to start on 17 June for training and set-up.

**Welfare Officer **£628 per week including holiday pay + free board and lodging

You will be responsible for promoting an inclusive and safe school environment, ensuring that students adjust to being in the UK, follow school rules and make the most of their stay. In particular, you will have daily contact with students who come alone rather than in a group. You will carry out staff and Group Leader training in areas of safety and welfare, ensure that staff follow health and safety guidelines and are fully conversant with risk assessments, as well as undertaking tasks such as completing the daily log, checking rooms and making appointments for students who may need to see a doctor or dentist. You may be required to deputise for the Centre Manager in their absence.

**Requirements**:
university degree

previous experience of working on a summer school, preferably with safeguarding/welfare experience

native proficiency in English

managerial experience desirable

excellent communication, time management and interpersonal skills

excellent organisational skills, problem solving ability and the ability to think on your feet

Level 2 Safeguarding certificate and first aid certificate essential (if you do not have these, we can provide training).

Salary £628 per week (including holiday pay of 12.07%) + free board and lodging provided

New College Group is accredited by the British Council.
