The East Specialist Inclusive Learning Centre (SILC) is a 2-19 generic specialist school with 424 pupils on roll. All our pupils have special learning needs and some have physical/ medical difficulties. The East SILC is a complex organisation which operates on a variety of sites to provide a range of outreach services across the city, including partnerships with primary and secondary providers, the city-wide Physical Difficulties and Medical Service including a moving and handling service, as well as the Medical Needs Teaching Service for Leeds

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant to join our existing team at the East SILC. The post will be based at the John Jamieson site in the first instance, and will be assigned to support within our Post 16 Phase. With all appointments at the East SILC there may be a requirement to work across sites. An interest and experience in working with young people with complex needs is essential.

The HLTA appointed to this post will work alongside Teachers and Teaching Assistants to raise the learning and attainment of all pupils in both academic and EHCP areas. The post holder will support pupils, individually or in groups, so that they can access all areas of the curriculum, always promoting pupils’ independence. Integral to this role is the ability to produce planning to support the delivery of learning activities and assess, record and report on pupils’ progress and achievement

The post is open to all applicants who meet Higher Level Teaching Assistant standards or equivalent qualification/ experience.

The East SILC has a progressive staffing structure in place which is supported by Continual Professional Development. A thorough induction process is in place.
