Job description
We are currently looking for an Employee Relations Advisor to join our established team at Oxford City Council. We strive to give our employees the best possible outcomes and are committed to a great service, and our ER team add value to staff and managers by supporting them with employee relations advice and training. Your role will be to guide line managers on a range of employment relations cases including absence management, poor performance, organisational change, disciplinaries and grievances. You will be will attending formal meetings, advising on employment law, procedures, and best practice to ensure we consistently do the right thing by our staff. You’ll also have an opportunity to shape our future policies and processes through the review and update of our core policy documents as well as getting involved in project work across the HR function.

We would be interested in hearing from you if you have you worked at an advisory level and have experience in providing clear, pragmatic advice to line managers on core people policies.

As a minimum we are looking for someone who meets the criteria set out in the grade 6 job description attached. But if you have significantly more experience and are able to take a lead on more complex case and project work we would really welcome you to apply, and if successful would look to appoint at a higher level.
