**Wage/Salary**: £18.00 weekdays, £20.00 weekends, gross per hour
**Driver Essential?** Yes
**Essential**:Understanding of physical and learning disabilities, Experience of anxiety and/or behaviours that can challenge, Non-smoker/vaper, *Female only
**Desirable**: Confident Swimmer
**Start Date**: ASAP
**Days & Hours**: 3 days per week, 9.00am to 7.00pm, see notes below.
**About this client/child**:
Reece (35) is an incredibly popular gentleman in his community and enjoys stopping and chatting with his many friends in coffee shops, his local church, and various other activities. Reece enjoys weekly 1:1 dance classes, swimming, Boccia, arts and crafts, and loves to bake - Reece would love to run his own baking business Reece has cerebral palsy, anxiety, and some behaviours that may challenge. He lives with his Mum, his main carer; his sister lives nearby, is a big part of his life.
**Overview of role**:
Physically and emotionally, Reece requires assistance with everyday practicalities such as showering, dressing, preparing food and organising his days and time. Anxiety is Reece’s main challenge, so he requires someone who is calm, patient and understanding to help him to cope and manage daily life. Supporting Reece to prepare for and take part in his daily activities is the main part of this role, which will be guided and supported by his Mum, following a therapeutic approach. Reece needs time to build a good relationship with his new support worker so over time his Mum can take a less active role in his care. Assisting Reece with arts, crafts and baking at home will be the steppingstones to getting to know him. The hours are 9.00am to 7.00pm, and the 3 working days will initially be Monday, Wednesday, and Friday changing to Tuesday, Wednesday, and Sunday, after training. Reece is anxious with new people, so observations, shadowing, and training could take some months. Wage is £18.00 weekdays, £20.00 weekends, gross per hour. £29,120.00 gross after training.
**Who this job would suit**:
This role will suit a consistent, patient, and reliable support worker who is looking for a permanent, long-term position. Reece takes time to get comfortable with new people, so someone who is committed, understanding and patient is essential. You’ll be a non-smoker/vaper and be happy to attend church with Reece. As Reece’s support worker, you’ll work alongside his Mum and his other support workers, so a positive communicator is key. Due to Reece’s anxiety, he needs someone to come focused each day and leave any personal issues outside of work.
**What’s great about this job**:
This is a lovely caring family. Reece has many opportunities to get out and about and the job is interesting and active for his support workers. You will have good guidance from his Mum and other support workers who have known Reece for many years and can advise on techniques and his specific person-centred approaches. Opportunities for training too
**Who is recruiting for this role?**
Snap Care will be carrying out all recruitment including shortlisting, recruiter interviews and arranging employer interviews.
**Please note**:
*Where a specific gender is stated as essential, gender is considered to be a genuine occupational requirement in accordance to paragraph 1, of schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010 for female or male worker to work with our client.
