**Salary**: £45,000

37 hours per week + flexible working (onsite minimum 1 day per week)

Located: Luton

We have a fulltime opportunity for a qualified Accountant to work for an established not for profit housing association based in Luton.

**Responsibilities Accountant**:

- Preparing annual statutory year end accounts
- Preparing monthly management reporting and projected outturns
- Contributing to budget preparation
- Maintaining cashflow and advising as appropriate
- Overseeing service charge calculations
- Preparing annual rent calculations
- Overseeing maintenance of fixed asset registers
- Understanding, maintaining, and updating the Financial Regulations
- Understanding and advising on meeting lender’s covenants and other business criteria
- Distributing financial reports to budget holders and the Leadership Team on a timely basis
- Developing and maintaining positive relationships with others, staff, customers and clients outside the organisation
- Always understanding and following policies and procedures, including Health and Safety, Fairness, and Business Continuity Planning
- Supporting the improvement of financial understanding within the organisation
- Responsible for effective management, supervision and monitoring of the Finance Team

**Skills / Experience: Accountant**
- Qualified Accountant - CIMA/ACCA/AAT qualifications
- Proven experience in producing management accounts for a multi-million pound and multi-faceted business
- Proven experience in producing statutory accounts for a multi-million pound and multi-faceted business
- Experience of using and setting up accounting software to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of accounts production
- Able to recognise and recommend areas in which improvements to the accounting systems can be achieved
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate with all levels of organisation
- Ability to learn to use the relevant software quickly and confidently
- Excellent organisational skills
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as using own initiative
- Ability to manage time well, prioritise workload, and plan ahead in order to handle several tasks simultaneously without losing sight of priorities
- Ability to adopt a methodical approach and work within systems and procedures
- Able to handle sensitive data and be competent in maintaining clear and accurate records
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines
- Strong reconciliation skills
