**Job summary**:
This is an exciting opportunity to join a nationally run Facilities Management (FM) team within Defra. Nationally, we manage over 250 offices and depots to ensure our buildings are safe, well maintained, legally compliant and productive workplaces for our staff.

We have a 15-month apprenticeship position available to complete the Facilities Services Operative Level 2 apprenticeship.

This is a fixed location role - you must be based at Horizon House, Bristol.

No Facilities Management experience is required - we are looking for someone with the right personal skills who is interested in a career in Facilities Management.

**Job description**:

- Learning to become a Facilities Assistant
- Assisting with ensuring the building is safe and legally compliant
- Managing contractors on our sites
- Post room duties
- Signing-in guests and contractors at reception
- Learning about building maintenance, security and environmental management
- Logging and reporting of any faults or safety issues
- Organising and arranging meeting rooms
- Working to achieve the Facilities Services Operative Level 2 apprenticeship

**Person specification**:
No previous Facilities Management experience is required as the apprenticeship will provide you with the necessary knowledge to be fully effective in the role.

An** **apprenticeship is designed to provide you with substantive new skills and learning and must be materially different to any other training you have undertaken or other qualification you may hold.

**Selection process details**:

- This vacancy is using Success Profiles, and will assess your Behaviours, Strengths and Experience.Applicants must have the right to work in the UK and have been a UK or EEA (or combination of both) resident for a minimum of three consecutive years before the start of the apprenticeship.

All apprentices will have an initial assessment of their English & Maths ability at the start of their apprenticeship. If you do not hold a Level 1 qualification in English and Maths you will need to complete Level 1 alongside the apprenticeship. We will provide tutoring and support to help you achieve these. Level 1 is equivalent to GCSE grades D-G/1-3.

Apprenticeships are funded by the Government through the Education and Skills Funding Agency and are designed to provide structured training and development for a specific role or occupation.

A key requirement of all apprenticeships is that they must provide you with **substantive new skills and learning**, and that the learning you receive must be **materially different** to any previous learning or qualification you may have received.

In addition, you must:

- Be aged 16 or over (there is no upper age limit)
- Have the right to work in the UK and have been ordinarily resident in the UK/EU/EA for three consecutive years before starting the apprenticeship
- Not currently be in receipt of other government funding for further/higher education
- Work for more than 50% of your time in England

The sift will take place 11th - 13th January.
