Receptionist

**About the Role**:
Western Road Surgery has an opportunity for a receptionist to join our team on a part-time basis. The role will be a regular 18 hours and 45 mins, working:
- Wednesday 8am - 6.30pm
- Friday 7.45am - 6pm
And an additional 4 hours as contracted overtime to cover holidays on Tuesdays when required (usually about half of the year).
There is more to our receptionist roles than answering the phone and making appointments. In this essential front-line role at the practice, receptionists help patients to access the right services, assist with keeping health records accurate and up-to-date, and ensure that appointment bookings are well-managed.
The main responsibilities of the role include:
- dealing with the general public.
- booking appointments.
- filing/scanning documentation.
- chaperoning.
- general administration.

- a good standard of education, including maths and English.
- experience of providing customer service.
- experience of working within a receptionist role, ideally within a primary care general practice position, but this is not essential.
- experience of receiving and making telephone calls in a previous role.
- strong IT skills and be able to use computer-based systems - experience of SystmOne would be advantageous but not essential as training will be provided.
- strong organisational skills.
- strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate effectively with internal staff as well as external agencies and patients.
**About Us**:
Western Road Surgery has 12,363 patients, with an expanding list size. We have six GPs, three practice nurses and a full and supporting primary healthcare team. We are an extremely busy practice and the workload is demanding.
