**Job summary**:
SAT (Sector Analysis Teams) comprises analysts working across three directorates in DCMS:

- Civil Society and Youth
- Arts, Heritage and Tourism
- Sports, Gambling and Ceremonials
- Media and Creative Industries

This collection of policy areas means that we get the chance to work on some of the most interesting, important and exciting government priorities. This includes activities as diverse as hosting major global events and festivals, providing local infrastructure for cultural or youth engagement, and designing regulatory frameworks for gambling and football governance.

The role of SAT is to ensure high-quality evidence informs all stages of policy development and delivery through rigorous analysis and building a robust evidence base. We work collaboratively with our policy teams and stakeholders to understand our sectors, shape policy and set direction.

**Job description**:
The Arts Heritage and Tourism (AHT) Directorate of DCMS is looking for a Band B analyst with experience of policy evaluation, project and stakeholder management and a strong interest in the cultural sector.

You may also be involved in a diverse number of projects aimed at understanding the role of culture and heritage in contributing to ‘levelling up’ and economic growth; the accessibility and inclusivity of our sectors; or, understanding the role AHT plays in delivering a range of social impacts and wellbeing.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- The primary purpose of this role is to act as the analytical lead responsible for the management of the evaluation of MEND & BPIF programmes, which will be delivered by external independent contractors, working with internal and external stakeholders.
- In addition, you may be required to work on the following:

- Providing evidence-based policy support for a number of high profile projects within the directorate.
- Overseeing some data and research projects across the directorate, including project management of research projects, through development to publication
- Provide analytical support for fiscal events preparation including engaging with other parts of DCMS as well as analytical colleagues in our ALBs, HMT and other Departments.
- Grow Team Visibility and Skillset: Ensure that our work is visible and valuable to our policy teams, putting analysis and evidence at the centre of policy work. You will provide readouts, presentations and teach ins to increase awareness of our offer in the directorate and widen our skillset to better approach tasks where we don’t necessarily hold expertise.

Essential Requirements
- We are looking for highly motivated analyst with strong qualitative and quantitative skills as well as excellent communication and organisational skills
- You will need to be proactive with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team across a range of different priorities.
- Applicants must have experience of policy evaluation or managing research projects, ensuring quality of results and methodological rigour.
- You will need to be able to explain complex issues in simple terms and be confident to draft high quality formal documents.

Desirable Skills
- To succeed, you will need to build an understanding of our sectors and work directly with key stakeholders.
- You should have a desire to learn and the confidence to work autonomously.
- Experience of training or developing others in the use of data analytics tools or techniques.
- Experience of working with Microsoft Excel.
