**1. Background**

SONI Ltd, as the System Operator for Northern Ireland, plays a critical role through planning the development and the safe operation of the electricity transmission grid in Northern Ireland. The SONI organisation comprises highly skilled professionals with diverse backgrounds. As part of the EirGrid Group, SONI is at the forefront of innovation in the energy industry, enabling the transition towards a low-carbon, technology-enabled smart future. The transmission grid brings power from where it is generated to where it is needed, supplying large industrial customers and the distribution networks, which in turn supply homes, farms and businesses across the island. With an annual turnover of c.£120m and 130 staff, SONI also operates the €3 Billion wholesale Single Electricity Market (SEM) on the island of Ireland through a contractual joint venture with its parent company.

SONI is regulated by the Utility Regulator (UR) in Northern Ireland. Based on a recent licence change requiring board, managerial and resource separation from EirGrid Group, SONI has initiated a significant transformational programme of work to implement its future organisational structure and operating model, which forms the SONI Governance Programme.

We are searching for a qualified and resourceful human resources generalist to support our department in ensuring smooth and efficient business operations. The Human Resources generalist will have both administrative and strategic responsibilities and will help with important functions such as talent acquisition, training and development, shaping and developing the organisational culture, and compensation and benefits. This is an exciting time to join SONI and play a part in the successful delivery of SONI's Governance Programme while also supporting Northern Ireland’s net zero strategy aimed at decarbonising the power system.

**2. Role Profile**
**Main purpose**

To provide operational support across a broad range of areas within the HR function, including but not limited to talent acquisition, onboarding, organisational development, learning and development, performance management, employee relations, data analytics and compensation & benefits (inc. payroll) and providing HR advice to employees.

**Main duties and responsibilities**:

- Lead on recruitment activities to support the SONI Governance Programme and onboard new starters.
- Supporting on organisational development projects.
- Developing employee engagement initiatives and enhancing learning and development opportunities for employees across this business.
- Coordinate compensation, benefits and payroll - providing payroll instructions to a third-party payroll provider, liaising on pay rates and pension information on a monthly basis including payroll analysis and reporting. Liaising with outsourced payroll provider to ensure payroll is processed accurately every month.
- Developing and reviewing people policies and procedures.
- Delivering HR projects in support of business objectives.
- Supporting implementation of diversity and inclusion plans.
- Gathering information and preparing reports on people and culture activities.
- Update records to accommodate new hires, promotions, and leavers.
- Implement offboarding procedures and conduct exit interviews.
- Research new people and culture trends.
- Supporting on other areas of HR as and when required.
- Any other reasonable duties as and when requested.

**3. Person Specification**

**Essential Criteria**:

- Human Resources / CIPD qualification (Level 5 minimum).
- 2+ years' experience in an HR Generalist role.
- Results driven, highly organised and efficient with an ability to manage multiple priorities and ensure deadlines are consistently met.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills along with compassion.
- A demonstrated ability to work on own initiative and work collaboratively as a team.

**Desirable Criteria**:

- Previous experience with payroll and compensation and benefits.
