We are looking for a dedicated Targeted Youth Support Practitioner - Youth Wellbeing Steering Group to develop initiatives that ensures young people get the opportunity to participate fully in the co-design and delivery of services so that their voices can be heard. If this is you, then we have a very exciting role for you

The Havering Youth Wellbeing Steering Group has been launched to engage young people around the wellbeing census and enable young people to share their views and perspectives about wellbeing. Havering Council recently worked with UCL Partners to conduct a Youth Wellbeing Census to measure the wellbeing of young people in the borough Havering - Youth Wellbeing Census (haveringdata.net). This census used the locally adapted #BeeWell Survey (originally developed for use in Greater Manchester).

We are looking for a **Qualified Youth Worker **with a range of experience in delivering quality programmes and provisions with young people to co-design and facilitate the Havering Youth Wellbeing Steering Group.

**You can expect**:

- To lead or contribute to community forums, conferences and training to promote and support young people’s engagement within the Borough and advocate for issues of importance to them.

Now is the time to join our busy and vibrant youth service team to create learning opportunities with young people and to support them to navigate some of the complexities in their lives. You will need to work confidently with diversity and understand the impact of discrimination on young people.

**About Us**

Havering is a London borough like no other. Located in Zone 6, we are in close proximity to both the hustle and bustle of the city and the surrounding Essex countryside. Boasting attractive green spaces and fantastic schools, it is no wonder that we have one of the fastest growing child populations in the country, and our community is becoming increasingly diverse. We are also unique in our political makeup, with Havering Residents’ Association working in co-operation with the Labour Group to make Havering an even better place to live and work. We have a strong corporate agenda and are embedding an increasingly insight-driven culture, which we think makes this a very exciting time to join us.

We are committed to seeing life through the eyes of young people in Havering. We promote positive language and attitudes toward young people, their networks and communities. Co-production is at the heart of our work, and young people’s voices are at the centre of the design and delivery of our service. We provide support that improves outcomes for children and young people between 10 and 18 years old, and up to 25 for young people with Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Our core aim is to safeguard children and young people who may be at risk of harm outside of their family and home. In recent years, we have seen an increase in the exploitation of children and young people in Havering. We use techniques like information sharing between agencies and data analysis to identify those young people who may be at risk of exploitation. We then work with young people to protect them from harm and improve their life chances.

Our preventative approach to support and intervention with young people is informed by our understanding of:

- The impact of trauma and adverse childhood experiences
- Young people’s experiences of risk in places and people outside of family, home and school
- The power of language and relationship-based practice
- You will join us in taking a Child First and trauma-informed approach in promoting supportive family relationships, enhanced emotional regulation, improved outcomes, healthier lifestyles and delivering positive activities.

You will have the ability to build and sustain relationships with young people in a range of contex
