Venue and Events Assistant

We have an exciting opportunity for a **Venue and Events Assistant** to join our team based in **London**. You will join us on a **12 month fixed-term contract **and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of **£25,901 pro rata - £10,360 for 2 days per annum (**Scale Point10 ).**
**About the role**:
As our **Venue and Events Assistant**, you will assist the Venue and Trading Co-ordinator to achieve bookings and deliver a high standard hospitality service in Cathedral View to generate revenue for The Passage’s charitable activities.
**Hours**: 16 hours per week excluding breaks. To include weekend and evening work depending on the needs of the service.
**Key responsibilities of our Venue and Events Assistant** **will include**:
- Welcoming and greeting guests
- Collaborating with the Venue and Trading Co-ordinator to supervise supporting locum or agency workers to manage the booking and customer service effectively
- Arranging the set up of tables, chairs and equipment for guests according to their event requirements
- Preparation and service of refreshments for all bookings
- Liaising with the Primary Services team to ensure the delivery of the in-house catering service is consistently high quality across all menus to include; sit down meals, BBQs, canapes, buffet, hot drinks, drinks bar, drinks service
- Liaising with the reception team to ensure venue visitors and calls are dealt with efficiently and appropriately.
- Assisting customers with IT setup and general enquiries
- Clearing down of the room to include putting away equipment, washing up refreshments, wiping tables and cleaning the kitchen
- Managing the tidiness and upkeep of the 5th floor kitchen
- Assisting with stock take of product
- Assisting the Venue and Trading Co-ordinator with venue hire enquiries, facilitating site visits and supporting with customer correspondence
- Assisting the Trading Administrator with content for social media and other digital marketing
- Assisting with the launch and delivery of new trading activities.
**Experience**
- Experience of providing a high quality hospitality service
- Experience supervising volunteers or staff
- Experience of working in a team
- Experience of working alone and managing your time and tasks effectively
**Knowledge**
- A good understanding of the catering/hospitality industry
- Excellent Customer Service Skills
- Knowledge of homelessness issues
- Knowledge of Equal Opportunities and a practical awareness of Health and Safety and the implication of both within the working environment.
