To organise a programme of events of appropriate, achievable and therapeutic activities to enhance the lives, and improve the holistic wellbeing of Resident’s, based on a person centred approach.

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**
- Protect all Resident’s from abuse and report concerns as per Company policies and procedures
- Plan and gain approval for a programme of varied group and individual events following discussions with Resident’s, relatives and staff. Promote the daily aims and objectives of the Leisure and Wellness framework. Understand and follow the guidelines for Leisure and Wellness as set out in the L & W framework. Fully support the ‘Whole Home’ approach to Leisure, Activities and Wellness. Publicise and communicate the programme on a weekly basis. Group events may include art classes, music, films, quizzes, bingo, entertainment etc.
- Complete all events on the programme as advertised giving regard to Resident safety, comfort and enjoyment. Accompany Resident’s on outings, ensuring the adequate provision of Care Staff to meet Resident’s needs
- Keep accurate records of all costs associated with the programme within the defined budget and keep both the Home Manager and Administrator fully updated on the expenditure and furnish them as requested with the records for this
- Assist in fund-raising activities and mobile shop and manage the books and audio library
- Organise regular visits from representatives of all religious denominations. Assist with transport for Resident’s wishing to attend religious services
- Attend to individual Resident’s social needs including one to one private conversations, letter writing, reading and assistance with the pursuance of individual hobbies or interests
- Encourage and promote participation from other staff, volunteers and Resident’s relatives and families
- Report any observed change in condition of a Resident, and incidence of diarrhoea and vomiting (staff or Resident) or any untoward incident in the Home to the Nurse in Charge, or Home Manager without delay
- Value the life experience and knowledge of Resident’s, showing them courtesy and respect, observing their privacy and dignity at all times
- Promote positive risk taking by Resident’s as an essential part of everyday life, assisting them to maximise their abilities and promote their independence
- Communicate effectively with Resident’s, their relatives, friends, other staff and external visitors to the home and deal sensitively with their concerns
- Respect each Resident as an individual, treating them equally and valuing their cultural and social diversity
- Work in partnership with Resident’s ensuring that their views, choices and interests are at the centre of all care and service provided by the Home
- Understand the importance of Resident’s maintaining links with the community, valuing and supporting the role that relatives and friends play in their care
- Show courtesy and respect to Resident’s at all times to ensure that they enjoy the highest quality of life, respect sand confidentiality of Resident’s and their families at all times and involve families and friends in the Resident care and develop their trust
- Communicate effectively with Resident’s, their relatives, friends, other staff and external visitors to the Home and deal sensitively with their concerns
- Greet all visitors, and answer the telephone in a friendly, courteous and efficient manner and promote Porthaven Care Homes and your Home in particular positively at all times in the local community
- Keep personal knowledge and job skills up to date to ensure that Resident receive the best possible standards of care and service
- Carry out all duties in a safe manner having regard to the health, safety and welfare of self, staff, Resident’s and other persons within Porthaven Care Homes
- Ensure that you have read and understood, and at all times comply with, all relevant company policies and procedures and all relevant statutory responsibilities including Care Quality Commission regulations and standards, Fire arrangements, Health and Safety issues including moving and handling, COSHH regulations, maintaining records diligently and accurately as required
- Ensure that the appropriate risk assessments are undertaken, recorded and acted upon appropriately before each activity takes place to ensure the safety and wellbeing of you, the Resident’s and other staff
- Positively promote the business through personal conduct both within and outside normal working hours
- Establish and maintain sound working business relationships and communication with other healthcare professionals including visiting GP’s
- Attend, and participate in, training sessions and staff meetings
- Maintain good working relations with colleagues at all times
- Undertake the NAPA distance learning course, promoting NAPA as our chosen charity/;
