The department’s activities cover a range of surgical specialties including General Surgery, Day Case Surgery, Orthopaedics, Gynaecology, Plastics, Dental and Maxillofacial surgery. A consultant led service for ICU, Obstetrics, Acute and Chronic Pain is also provided. The department is recognised by the Royal College of Anesthetist's for Schedule l Training.

Applicants must be fully registered with the General Medical Council (London) with a license to practice. Possession of the primary FRCA or equivalent is desirable.

Applications from clinicians unable to work full-time will also be considered.

The post holder will be required to support the Anaesthesia and critical care team. Main responsibilities will be to provide and organise management of General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Gynaecology, Urology and obstetric patients.

As part of their duties the post holder will be involved in audit, research, teaching and supervision of junior staff.
