**Job description - Part-time Funeral Arranger**

Due to a retirement, Bowley & Gallagher Funeral Directors, a busy and well-respected independent family owned business in Preston Road, Brighton, have a vacancy for an experienced Part-time Funeral Arranger on a job share basis (working 20 hours per week Wednesday - Friday). This person will join our team of dedicated people serving families at one of the most difficult times in their lives.

Supporting the Funeral Directors, you will assist with the process of arranging and planning funeral services in an empathetic, friendly and professional manner, providing the renowned service that our customers have come to expect.

Experience is preferred, however training will be given.

The key duties of the post are as follows:

- Answering the telephone in a polite and efficient manner. Taking, recording and forwarding accurate messages.
- Creating, managing and updating files and documents.
- Arranging funeral services in line with our families wishes whilst liaising with ministers, celebrants, crematoriums and burial grounds to ensure these wishes are met.
- Making arrangements and accompanying families to see their loved one in our visiting suite.
- Accompanying and assisting doctors when they visit our premises.
- Assist with the administration and sales of monumental masonry and pre-paid funerals for which full training will be given.
- Daily banking of monies received in settlement of funeral accounts.
- Maintaining branch petty cash records, processing of card payments etc.
- General office administration including photocopying, filing and shredding.
- Ensuring that the Funeral Home is clean, tidy and welcoming at all times.

- Understand and be able to address the needs of the bereaved.
- A competent administrator, accurate, with excellent attention to detail.
- Computer literate including MS Word and Excel.
- Flexible attitude - adaptable to the needs of the organisation.
- Demonstrate a calm, efficient and compassionate demeanour.
- Reliability, honesty and a commitment to always maintaining confidentiality.

**Job Type**: Part time on a job share basis.

**Salary**: £11,180 - £11,900 per year depending upon experience.

Expected hours: 20 hrs per week, some flexibility will be needed from time to time and the ability to cover your job share through holidays is essential.
