**Emergency Planning Officer**

Promote and expand emergency planning business through the delivery of high standard high quality emergency preparedness and response customer services. Is a member of the Emergency Management Response Team (Main Control Support Manager) on a 24/7-duty rota system. The Emergency Planning Officer responds to the Emergency Planning Manager

**Main Areas of Responsibility**:

- Design, coordinate and deliver a wide range of emergency preparedness services.
- Work in collaboration with customers and provide specialist expertise in the development and execution of Statutory Duty Emergency Exercises to facilitate the testing regime for both internal and external emergency plans in compliance with regulatory requirements outlined in the Control of Major Accidents Hazards Regulations 2015 and associated legislation and supporting guidance.
- Integrate with both internal and Local Authority Emergency Services on operational, tactical and strategic emergency response related matters, ensuring systems, procedures and communications are adequate and fit for purpose.
- Develop relationships that encourage transparency and proactive partnership approach to continuous improvements.
- Maintain a comprehensive library of training and exercises records and reports to provide customers, government bodies and agencies with auditable evidence to demonstrate current emergency preparedness compliance in both internal and external emergency plans.
- Prepare courses and exercises documentation and materials in line with Emergency Planning Groups work schedule to meet both customer, multi-agency, and government bodies’ requirements.
- Be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of housekeeping for all EPG training facilities and Emergency Control Centres (Wilton & Billingham) ensuring a state of preparedness at all times.
- Deputises for the Emergency Planning Manager in his absence or when delegated to other duties.
- Will be required to take part in rolling On Call schedule.

**Essential Skills/Qualifications**:

- High regard for safety and the safety of others (duty of care)
- Good understanding of industrial safe systems and work procedures
- Comprehensive knowledge of COMAH Regulations 2015.
- Tenacity and ability to work under pressure in emergency situations

- Job dimensions require a flexible approach to working hours and mobility, as training services may require periods outside of Teesside area.

**Desirable**
- Minimum of one year’s experience in emergency planning, Emergency Services or Environmental Health & Safety.
- National General or diploma Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health.
- Diploma in emergency planning
- Training Qualification C&G 7303/7304 or equivalent
