AHK has an exciting opportunity for a Group Quality Manager to join our main Laboratory Facility in Liverpool (UK). Reporting to the Group Technical & Quality Lead, the Group Quality Manager is responsible for the continuous improvement and delivery of theAHK Quality approach in Group Laboratory operations focussed on metals and minerals analysis, as well as taking a leading role in steering the strategic direction of the key Group Quality and Technical initiatives, in accordance with business objectives.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Responsible for the development, maintenance and delivery of the Group Quality Policy.
- Overall responsibility for the delivery of the monthly Group Quality Exercise, the intended four-week cycle and closing out all non-conformances in a timely manner.
- Overall responsibility for the delivery of the planned annual schedule of the on-site and remote Group Auditing Programme.
- Overall responsibility for the monthly delivery of QC monitoring and subsequent identification of issues for appropriate corrective action.
- In a leadership capacity, supports the Group Technical & Quality Lead in the delivery of the Group Method Validation Protocol for the full scope of existing and new laboratory locations.
- Takes a leadership role in ensuring that monthly technical meetings for all laboratory locations are delivered and recorded with an agenda primed to cover all topical issues and to provide opportunity for the local laboratory teams to request support andto drive continuous improvement.
- In a leadership capacity, supports technical training visits to Group Headquarters from our non-UK based colleagues and possibly external clients.
- Responsible for the planning and execution of any Group Quality and Technical training.
- Provides support in the maintenance and extension to scope of all Group accreditation.
- Under the guidance of the Group Technical & Quality Lead, provides support for Group technical development projects.
- Provides support in the tender for outsourcing opportunities as well as active involvement in any new laboratory implementation in a variety of roles but chiefly in the delivery of the on-site QMS.
- Takes the lead or provides support in client meetings either in Group Headquarters or off site.
- Overall responsibility for the continual update of the Group Laboratory scope.
- Takes the lead in the recruitment of new personnel, performs PDRs for direct reports, and actively supports Quality and Technical KPI setting within the team and across the Group.
- Takes the lead in the production and upkeep of Internal Reference Materials and subsequent assessment and circulation across the Group.
- Responsible for the upkeep of all Group Quality documentation, adhering to latest brand guidelines.
- Oversee the day to day operational performance of the Group Quality team.
- Notifies the Group Technical & Quality Lead of any serious or repetitive sources of error and risks to service provided by AHK Laboratory locations.
- Performs any ad hoc tasks at the request of Laboratory Senior Management in agreement with the Group Technical & Quality Lead
- Ensures compliance with all Company Health, Safety & Environmental procedures as instructed.

**Person Specification**

**Required Skills and Knowledge**
- Understanding of statistics and method validation.
- Able to process large data sets to reach conclusions.
- Able to set-up, manage and spot deficiencies in ISO 17025 compliant Quality Management Systems.
- Deep understanding of the chemistry associated with commercial assay methods.
- Effective people management skills.
- Effective project management skills.

**Required Competencies**
- Able to influence and persuade others into adopting alternative approaches.
- Able to critically review technical information and spot root causes and suggest solutions.
- High attention to detail.
- Able to focus on meeting given deadlines.

**Required Work Experience**
- Substantial experience in a commercial analytical laboratory environment.
- Experience in any/all of the following analytical techniques - WDXRF, EDXRF, FAAS, ICP, ICPMS, CIC, IR combustion, Fire assay, Automated and Manual titration, Electrogravimetry, sample preparation and digestion.
- A proven record in Laboratory Quality Management.
- A proven record in internal auditing.

**Required Qualifications**
- Degree in Inorganic chemistry or a related discipline

**Required Languages**
- Fluent in English. Ability to speak Spanish, French or Chinese is desirable.

**Travel / Rotation Requirements**
- Sporadic overseas travel, generally no more than two weeks per trip.
