We are recruiting for an Employees Relations Specialist to join The London Borough of Haringey, Full Time, Paying up to £24.82 Per Hour.

**Job Purpose**:
To provide guidance and support to staff and managers on a range of casework and deal with employee relations matters, ensuring legislative requirements are met and sound employee relations are facilitated and promoted. Support the development of managersin people management through coaching and HR training as appropriate.

**Main Responsibilities**:

- Provide a consistently robust, professional, accurate and timely HR advisory service to allocated Service areas. Provide advice and support to Services in respect of all employee relations (ER) case issues, building good relationships with Directors, SeniorManagement team and managers.
- Maintain and update case work schedules and performance data required on a regular basis. Be able to interpret data and advise directorates accordingly on trends and suitable management interventions.
- Advise, guide and coach staff and managers at all levels on employee relations matters including absence, capability, disciplinary, probationary, grievance, conflict resolution, redundancy and redeployment process, change management, consultation (individualand collective), and settlement agreements, in accordance with agreed procedures and best practice. This will include supporting managers to resolve the problems and supporting them to develop action plans to resolve the case.
- Ensure casework is managed in a consistent and professional way of working, developing template letters, reports and guidance, and reviewing documentation produced to manage risk and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
- Advise, guide and coach managers in conducting fair investigations and investigation reports.
- Support Managers in the preparation of appeals, including member appeals and Employment Tribunal claims, and attending Employment Tribunals. Work closely with the legal department with the preparation of appeals and for Employment Tribunal claims by providingdetailed advice relevant background and paperwork and attend.
- To promote effective working relationships with trade unions and the workforce by resolving issues in a consistent, fair and effective manner, in accordance with HR best practice on all aspects of employee relations work.
- To advise managers on the management of sickness absence policy and liaise with the Occupational Health Service and external welfare providers on individual cases. Atten and advise at sickness panel meetings for Service areas.
- Be responsible for developing and delivering regular HR workshops and briefing sessions, on best management practices, employee relations, employment law and HR policy/procedure in order to build management capability.
- To maintain a good understanding of Safeguarding and to offer advice and support to managers in regard to employee relation matters in relation to safeguarding issues, where applicable.
- Prepare and present reports and updates to any required meeting or forum

**Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience**:

- CIPD membership or equivalent
- Extensive experience of working within a HR environment in a Local Government setting
- Substantial experience of working in a complex, multisite, unionised environment.
- Experience of advising on organisational change projects, including restructures and redundancies.
- Successful track record in dealing with complex employee relations issues.
- Working in partnership with multiple Trade union bodies.
- Sound knowledge of employee relations issues, including policies and procedures relating to employee disputes, disciplines and grievances.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of equality and diversity issues.
- Knowledge of developing and effective training materials, presentations and deliver HR workshops.
- An understanding of Safeguarding in regard to employee relations matters.
- Good ICT skills Microsoft office specialist systems
- Demonstrate a sound knowledge of employment issues.
- Ability to provide advice tailored to the objectives and working practices of each case and site.
- Ability to maintain a positive working relationship with senior managers and promote HR services.
- Ability to support managers in all aspects of people management, including giving advice and developing solutions to people problems within a framework of risk management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust and confidence quickly
- Discretion in handling of sensitive and confidential information
- Excellent at influencing and coaching senior stakeholders
- Ability to prioritise and work well under pressure personally effective - excellent or organisational skills; ability to prioritise
- Excellent oral and written skills and ability to write letters and reports
- Good research analysis, interpretation and evaluating skills demonstrate ability to identify and diagnose problems, issues, requirements and develop solutions
