Welfare Benefit Officer

Providing a holistic package of support and interventions to tenants and leaseholders at risk of financial exclusion.
Working on a casework basis, offer specialist support and advice on all aspect of income maximization, welfare benefits and financial (and digital) capability.
Housing Benefit (HB)/Council Tax Rebate (CTR), Department of Work and Pension (DWP) and relevant others to minimize overpayments, maximize benefit entitlements and access additional payments such as Discretionary Housing Payments (DHP) or social fund.
**Knowledge & Experience**
- Experience of working within a social housing setting or understanding the needs and issues faced by vulnerable or disadvantaged tenants at risk of financial exclusion
- Good knowledge of housing and welfare benefits, universal credit, legislation, policies and issues relating to income maximisation and debt prevention
- Knowledge of financial and banking regulations
- High level of numeracy and literacy
- Experience of providing training and awareness raising initiatives and campaigns to maximise financial capability
- Experience of developing financial and digital inclusion strategies and successful attainment of objectives including using digital and mobile technologies
