The purpose of this post is to work, under the direction of the Senior Finance Officer and Financial Controller to provide various accounting functions to support the financial reporting of the Hospice and it’s trading subsidiaries including North Ease Hospices Lottery Ltd (NEHL), within deadlines set.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
Provide cover for the Finance Officer/s when necessary, to ensure the smooth running of the Finance Department to meet deadlines, as considered appropriate by the Senior Finance Officer and Financial Controller.
Assist in the preparation and processing of documentation to support the production of the Monthly Management Accounts for the Hospice and its trading subsidiaries, including NEHL, to agreed timescales. This will include reconciliations, journals and resolution of queries.
Maintain accurate purchase ledger records on Sage, including supplier records, processing invoices, monthly statement reconciliations, supplier payments and payment allocation to records and resolutions for any outstanding balances identified, all in a timely manner.

When necessary, assist the Finance Officer/s with the reconciliation and processing of income received for the Hospice and its trading subsidiaries including NEHL.
Assist the Senior Finance Officer and/or Financial Controller with providing financial information for the preparation of monthly reports and the annual budget setting process.
Set up bank payments as required by Senior Finance Officer and /or Financial Controller.
Assist the Senior Finance Officer and Financial Controller with data collection and analysis in support of the annual external audit.
Follow established procedures and policies and implement in own area, and propose changes as necessary.
Utilise automated practices and progress the accounting software and practices wherever possible to maximise efficiency and minimise administrative duplication.
Undertake project work as required by the Senior Finance officer and/or Financial Controller to identify potential cost savings/growth opportunities and/or implementing improved working practises.
Undertake surveys and internal audits as required, to manage performance and ensure compliance to policies and procedures, including all relevant documentation for reporting purposes.
Maintain personal and professional competencies and development. Make changes to own practice where required and offer suggestions for improving services where appropriate.
To liaise with members of the Senior Leadership Team, other Hospice staff and with external organisations as appropriate.
To carry out duties and responsibilities in compliance with Hospice policies and procedures, current legislation and codes of conduct as applicable.
To maintain good public relations and promote the Hospice philosophy of care.
To undertake such other duties and responsibilities commensurate with the grading and nature of the post.
